Knowing your Christian/Church history is important when one tells lies about your Church history; which happens often on this forum.
Scripture tells us one must always be ready to give a reason of the hope that is in us (1 Peter 3:15). For me, thru historical writings I know which Church is the pillar and foundation of truth that Jesus built on a rock and the historical practices of that Church, the Church I belong to, are backed by Scripture. The history of my Church,
2000 years worth, matches scripture. Protestants have 500 years of history that changes as society changes
i.e. gay marriages and clergy, some protestant churches condoning abortions.
You really don't think it is important to know the history of how the bible you quote from came to be (66 or 73 books) since there is no table of contents given to us by Jesus, the Apostles or God? I presume you accept the 66 books? If so, you don't really know
why you accept them, do you?
