Paul said it, I only quote him.

No quote you give of Paul proves what you're trying to say which is the gifts of the Holy Spirit have ceased. You quote him and them perform an abortion on what you quote.

We see lots of this today. People even use the bible to forecast the future beyond what is clearly written. But what do you think? I ran across this and thought I'd share it. It is in a NET Bible note concerning mediums channeling the spirits of the dead for extra biblical information.

“Do not turn to the spirits of the dead and do not seek familiar spirits to become unclean by them. I am the LORD your God.” (Leviticus 19:31) (NET)

The prohibition here concerns those who would seek special knowledge through the spirits of the dead, whether the dead in general or dead relatives in particular (i.e., familiar spirits; see J. E. Hartley, Leviticus [WBC], 321, and B. A. Levine, Leviticus [JPSTC], 134). Cf. Lev 20:6 below. Biblical Studies Press. (2005). The NET Bible First Edition; Bible. English. NET Bible.; The NET Bible. Biblical Studies Press.

So scripture treats this as reality, and according to the NET Bible Scholars, the extra biblical knowledge can even include dead relatives speaking through other human beings.

Any thoughts?
The problem I have is when someone says that God has spoken to them a message, but it contradicts Scripture.

“He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.” (1 Corinthians 14:4–5) (KJV 1900)

Well, if I have the truth and want only the truth, then call me a cult.

Just saying, most cult members do not know they are in a cult. Or they wouldn't be there. You can safeguard yourself by studying alternative views.

Again, as I have already said, nothing wrong with edifying oneself. The gift of tongues does that to the one with the gift. If there is no interpreter, the one with the gift of tongues still edifies himself. (1 Cor. 14:14) You are just repeating and chanting.

I don't need to know the false to know the true. I just need to know the true. Then when the false comes, I recognize it.

Today's tongues reduce stress. But they are not the same as biblical tongues.

It is not. People get a buzz speaking in non biblical tongues.

Yes, it is another lie of yours.

How do you know that people get a buzz from speaking in tongues? God calls it edification. You equate it to getting a buzz. Guess Who I believe? Not you.

They proved this. I've seen Charismatics really get a buzz at times.
