My wife fixed only a turkey breast for the two of us today. We had all of the trimmings and it was great and quiet. On Saturday our son and daughter, their spouses, and a couple of grandkids, will be here to take us out for s meal for Thanksgiving and our two birthdays.
Give God the glory!

Hopefully everyone here has also had or will be having a blessed time with their loved ones.

What you do is order it from one of those places that fry them for you. We have a grocery store near here that does it, and all you have to do is just place your order a few days beforehand and then go pick it up on the day you want it. They even make packages of delicious stuffing and rice dressing already made, so you don't have to hassle with the stuff that's harder to make.

If you can afford it that's the way to go, cuz deep fried is the best! (I think I paid $50 for one a few Christmases ago).

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! And make a little time for the Lord too, if you can. Been reading some scripture while watching some football games today, and any day with the Lord is a day to be thankful for!

Well I am happy to report I was NOT disappointed in the outcome....HOWEVER....it took nearly an hour for the oil to heat up (not expecting that) and the turkey was suppose to cook for 30 minutes but had to keep turning it over because the oil dissipated and didn't cover the turkey after about 15 minutes of cooking...(I didn't buy backup oil)….sooooo…..instead of our 3 p.m. scheduled eating time it was after 5 p.m.

Helen...ewwww…..turkey and duck and chicken.....were you trying to create a new hybrid of foul...I mean fowl? lol.....I have never heard of anyone doing that!

BTW Ms. Helen I was only having a little fun with the "foul/fowl" comment …..I watched a youtube video of people deep frying turkey...I guess it can be an extremely dangerous environment! This one guy put a FROZEN turkey in the fryer and the oil exploded everywhere....YIKES!

Well done on the turkey ...
No , the duck and chicken tucked inside the duck ...has been a favourite up here for a number of years...even Safeway will do it to order.

But it did not catch on with many people ....google “Turducken “ Wikipedia has a page on it too.

Sometimes I think I would prefer a dinner for 2 and actually be able to sit and enjoy the company of the person I am eating with instead of running around like crazy cooking for 20....cleaning up non stop messes...trying to have a conversation over a room of men yelling at a tv because some guy dropped a ball...whew....it wears me out!

I never watch any sports so that let's me out on that one. When I retired from my fulltime job 18 years ago I began making our bed every morning and cleaning the kitchen for my wife. She has always been the chief cook for us and she did not get to retire so I took on my share of what had been her work. I have found that now she doesn't hesitate to make a nice dinner because of the mess it makes. She has a full time dishwasher.

When she was hospitalized with a blood clot in early 2016, I began to do all of the laundry for us as well. She folds the clothes and puts them away when I bring them to her from the dryer.

No one irons clothes. I take my shirts to the cleaners twice a month to be washed, starched and ironed.

My wife and I complement each other. God did that for us. Years ago when I went to work for Social Security we discovered that by the end of the day my brain was cooked from dealing with everyone else's troubles. This made it easy for me to let her handle the budget and pay the bills. It was a real blessing for me as I came home glad to do the yard work so as to rest my brain rather than balance a checkbook and figure out our budget. She has handled the money ever since and only consults me with regard to unusual expenses. She had small jobs over the years but mostly has been a mother and housewife while I have been the one to earn most of the income.

We've never had a savings account to speak of but our only loan payment is for our car. We only have one car.

You sure are Blessed Amadeus!!!!!

When my husband retired, all the different kinds of pain started up in his body......
Each year more and stronger.
Finally I found out that he spoke to our son and told him he could add to his house
if we could move in. And they have 8 children so that was good for them.
Well , my husband is gone now "He must have know " And felt I would not be
able to care for my self. And of course why spend the money on rent, bills, etc.
when it could be helping our son and family. And it was his good idea.
I do miss him of course so much and am finding out now as I think back how
great he was and always thinking of me!

It sounds like the two of you were also each other's special blessing from God.
