Agree @aspen I came here some years ago to have fellowship with other Christians. Being that I now have more road behind me, and much less in front of me...I have time on my hands and spending it with online christians is a good way.
I like that the posts here 'make me think', make me check things, make me remember studies I did years back, and during reading many posts we also get to read a number of scripture verses per day.
All good for the old grey cells. :)

Like someone else said...I have made some good on-line 'friends' over the years..the most long standing one being @amadeus , I first met him in about '98 , '99 on a Site that has long gone now.... so we we are going on 20 yrs now.

Someone the other day mentioned that I was somewhat of a touchy/feely person...which I guess I am. I like the get to know the person behind the avatar. But I know this is often annoying to some people.
I think I probably get under @CoreIssue skin, because at times I poke him as I so want him to bend a bit and 'loosen up'. But he is one who stays hidden behind his 'name.' But, one day I may 'see' him smile. :)

Yes, I enjoy coming here. For the most part we have a good crowed on here.
It has been wonderful getting to know you all.

Good Thread Ron. Glad that you started it.
These kinds of thread show us much...most by those who don't post in them.
That tells us a lot about them!

Blessing on all....Helen
I smile a lot. I do not use my real name or picture because I still have political enemies. Just not worth the risk of them finding me here.

Yeah, I know that sounds dramatic but just the way it is. banana.gif bleh[1].gif

i am interested to hear why you have decided to post here. Some have be clear about why they have decided to contribute to this board - Bread of Life is here to challenge his perceived misconceptions about the Catholic Church (NOT THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH IDIOTS); meanwhile, Helen is here primarily for the fellowship. I am here to clarify my own beliefs in the moment and to have a record of change over time. So, why are you here?

Hello @aspen,

I have taken part in forums for a long time now. Why do I do it? Because I sometimes feel if I don't share, I will spontaneously combust!!! ;)
My heart get's so full that it has to overflow.

Within the love of Christ our Saviour,
Chris

My enemies aren't political, but as my wife and I have attempted to help various people over the years, some have turned out to be true psychos, so "marks" and no pic is a far as I'll go. But I'm late 50's long grey hair, grey beard, my wife says she likes my wrinkles. I guess that will have to do. Oh, and w/o the beard, I don't have much of a chin!

Much love!

Human nature being what it is...it is strange but I also give voices to the avatars.
I'm glad CoreIssue says that he often smiles...because he has a very stern 'voice' :)
And you, sorry you are stuck with brown hair...somehow I can't 'turn it' grey.

I came to the site in the first place because I was looking for fellowship and a place to chat to and share with others about the things God has showed us and blessed us with. I have been a Christian for over forty years but sadly at present I get no Christian fellowship in my ordinary life. It is good to be able to remember things and keep sharp by talking to others.

Well, it used to be brown . . . that's why you are . . . ByGrace!

:D

Oh . . . and I smile a lot too! I'm generally a pretty happy guy, esp once I figured out how much God loves me, and what that means!

Much love!

Excuse me? Defending BOL's insults?
I think he was lampooning them. BOL never directly calls anyone "idiots". He's actually careful about that... He calls people's beliefs "idiotic", which isn't much better.

Thank you, well I like butterflies and I would like to think the cat is gizmo with his little friends !! Lol

Yes, I remember you said also: "The idea of a symbolic butterfly in flight grew and grew - and as it was my 50th birthday coming up, I decided to mark that special day ( once I had thought it all through ) - all my children came along with me. It was a really nice time".

Yes, it must have been a really nice time, right? All of you together.

As your purple butterfly took shape.

Seems like you have absolutely no regrets.

I know what you are talking about. After the Lord saved be I had to drop many old friends who then became some of the greatest enemies. So it's a matter of staying off of their radar and a type of self imprisonment involved in avoiding them.

Another great question, aspen!
I think a lot of little things bought me here. But the biggest thing was just wanting to mull over theological issues with other believers. When you're reading scripture or studying other things, questions and thoughts come to mind. You obviously can't ask the authors! And while, sure, we pray about our queries, it just is a helpful thing, I find, to take such things to the body. And while I'm involved with my local church, I think perhaps my pastor would get sick of me emailing every couple of hours with a thought or question!
Forums just allow conversation, fellowship and back and forth with other believers. They help you either come to an understanding on certain passages, or cement previously held ones, due to the digging one must do when presenting ones thoughts.

So...mostly for that. But, also, I'd say that I enjoy standing for and proclaiming God's truth. We can't really know how many non-believers come through the board, or what they will read. I suppose I pray that God will use what is on this forum for those people, somehow.

Well, exactly; it's all about the Word...
