Sorry it's getting to you Helen.
I am kind of ' in between ' with things here as God is using certain things- for example, the thread on 9/11 - all the conspiracy and opinions- it got me thinking about all the threads about end times and I started to consider the real purpose of the book of revelation. I mean there is very little application in the discussions, and to me it's vital in our Christian lives. So I decided to use a study guide and work through the book of revelation- Tom Wright has written one that I am really getting a lot out of , it offers history, context and application.
I am no longer interested in many of the threads- the arguing is boring.
However I still think this place has something to offer. I hope you don't leave Helen xx

A couple of days ago I put this thread up in jest. Beacuse I was on the brink of leaving the site for a while. It helped .

But actually today has got to me again.
I know it is MY problem.
But I joined this site because it was a lovely spiritual place to come.
But not any more.

“Things of the Sprit “ are not the top priority here.
Arguing doctrine is.
Proving some one else is wrong, is.

It my problem. People joining here now would know no difference.
I remember the glory of the former-house...

I come, I read down the subject titles , and new posts, there is nothing that stirs my soul.
I see little that glorifies God.

Oh don't worry.
If I quit looking at this Site I wont be joining anything else. There is nothing better 'out there'.

And PM's are always here ...just feeling a bit low and disappointed with the lack of genuine spiritual input on here , the doctrinal arguments win every time 'these days'. But, I've been in this mood before, it may pass.

( the sad thing to say is, there is more Christian uplifts on Facebook many days, than on here!! And that is really scraping the bottom of the internet barrel!

This brings up something interesting.

Forums almost all enable the like/thumbs up function.

I believe I've only seen one forum that ever in a dislike/thumbs down function.

Discussion and debate is not a popularity contest.

Another function is ranking. That is where you give each post a numerical value, positive or negative.

Again, that forum that enabled dislike is the only one I have seen that a lot ranking.

Again, discussion and debate is not a popularity contest.

Enabling those things makes them the topic of discussion. Also can lead membership to be all of one mindset. Meaning that form is doomed.

Just like shout boxes do not work. They become everybody says what they think and debate becomes impossible.

No. Actually ByGrace has brought up a very good point. This site is indeed getting overwhelmed with threads which are not too edifying or actually focusing on Bible study and Bible truth. What I do is simply search out the ones worth looking at and leave the rest.

The sad reality is there are fewer and fewer healthy Christian sites.

Not trying to be mean but most people go looking for a site that pleases there itching ears.

There are plenty of sites that do suck up to everyone that you would call positive.

There are some sites that dwell on the truth you would call them negative.

Such as ex-Mormon sites whose mission it is to free people from Mormon.

Same with ex-Catholic sites.

I'm sure you would call them negative.

The point being the Bible says we are at war. It is a war for the positive which has to use negative to fight.

All loving and embracing can sound positive but the absolutely negative. As Mother Teresa loved people all the way to hell.

Or God bringing strife down on people that results in them repenting. On the face is negative but in fact is positive.

I am a very positive person. I am positive that the born again should grow in Christ and reach out to others. I am positive that people in Cults need to get out and turn to the solid Bible.

Positive and negative are very subjective too many.

To me they are objective when you look at the goals and the results.

You have a right to your opinion.

I make my position crystal-clear and then wait for comment.

What you seem to want is to develop an opinion the discussion.

But debate is presenting different opinions with supporting statements.

As well, by giving a fully fleshed opinion it gives seekers on an issue something for them to personally analyze and weigh out.

I cannot see how you label that negative.

Actually, I think I have not posted a video for three days. And often post more than half of my comments as other than videos.

Seems like your personal issue should have been discussed in a PM not in a thread.
I've noticed pretty quickly that you disagree with CoreIssue on Christian doctrines and the interpretation of Bible scripture and seem to have got a bit an axe to grind in the last few weeks. It looks like you've been trying to run a campaign against @CoreIssue & the threads he has started bringing up certain topics by different Pastors, Apologists and Theologians.
First I noticed the objections were raised under the pretense that the videos weren't a personal comment, then the complaint was that this forum is for a discussion only & somehow videos aren't fruitful for discussion? Lol! Ok, I guess we should inform the Colleges because discussions often preceed the watching of a video that presents a topic for discussion), ,next then it's been complaining in various places that that you suspect it is the videos CoreIssue posted that are actually slowing down the forum.
Seems to me you oppose the content of the material & the one who posted them, is what seems obvious to me.
It also seems like you want to control what is posted on this forum in the way of Christian beliefs & theology materials and it looks like when the material represents what you don't personally agree with it , it makes you very unhappy. Just sayin.
