Watch out brethren in Christ Jesus!
When you hear of someone preaching the doctrine that today's Jews returning back to the holy lands is proof of their restoration according to the Old Testament prophets, then beware, because that is not... what is taking place at all today.
In 1 Kings 11, when God split old Israel into two separate kingdoms, because of Solomon's sin, He promised He would always leave one tribe at Jerusalem. That is what is still being fulfilled today with some Jews returning back to the holy land.
Per the end of Isaiah 19, God showed that in His future Kingdom, Assyria, Israel, and Egypt will each be one third in His future Kingdom, and God's Highway will run from Egypt all the way up through Israel and into Assyria. The borders God originally promised Israel will then be established, with all 12 tribes restored there. That certainly is not... happening today, it should be very easy to note.
After God split old Israel into two separate kingdoms, He scattered the ten tribed "kingdom of Israel" first out of the holy lands (2 Kings 17). These were the ten northern tribes of Israel. They were separate from the Jews of the southern kingdom tribes of Judah, Benjamin, and Levi.
The ten northern tribes of Israel were not known as Jews. Per the Jewish historian Josephus, the title of 'Jew' originated from the tribe of Judah, and all those who lived in the southern kingdom of Judah at Judea took that title. Apostle Paul said he was a Jew (Judean) born of the tribe of Benjamin. The reason was because during the split, the tribe of Benjamin sided with the tribe of Judah in the south, and eventually the tribe of Levi also joined with Judah. Then a small remnant of the northern tribes left the north and sided with Judah. These became the Jews.
When the ten tribes were scattered to Assyria and the lands of the Medes, they began to lose their heritage as part of Israel. God let them have the full weight of their Baal idol worship they did against Him. They became lost, literally, to the Jews, and to the world, but not lost to God. They became as Gentiles, until they themselves began to believe they were Gentiles.
So today's Jews do NOT... know where all those ten tribe Israelites are today, nor who they are, because they themselves don't even know! But one thing is easy to know from God's Word. Those ten tribes of Israel made up the majority of the children of Israel. They were a great number of people, too many to number according to Josephus in his day (100 A.D.).
So if you hear someone trying to say all Israel is being gathered back to the holy land today, mark that person, because he/she is denying the event of Christ's future return, and the gathering that will take place when He comes.
