Hi,
I agree with you, "the Bible is VERY clear about who is and who is not eligible for leadership in churches." The Apostles chose who was "eligible for leadership in churches" by voting for whom they wanted (Acts 1:26, Acts 6:3) and by choosing reliable men to replace them. Those reliable men were to then choose other reliable men (2 Timothy 2:2) and they were to lay hands upon them (1 Timothy 4:14, Acts 13:2) and they were not to take lightly the responsibility of laying hands upon their successor (1 Timothy 5:22). It's called Apostolic Succession.
Today if a person gives a good sermon, looks good on TV and has enough likability or money to start his own church, he is considered a "Church leader". Protestants have denied what Scripture teaches in this matter.
Yes, the RCC has been removing these men from their midst. But I suspect you already knew that if you keep up with the news.
I wonder how many of these "worst of sinners" are leading your Church.....
BTW...I'm not trying to distract from anything. My simple point is whichever of you is without sin you can cast the first stone at those Catholic men. I choose not to throw stones at them. I would like to add Matthew 7:3 to that point also.

I'm not saying they should be excommunicated--I'm saying they need to be removed from leadership. The Bible is quite clear about the qualities which are necessary for leading God's people. Protestants (especially "Prosperity Gospel" preachers) have had their share of scandals as well--mostly because many of them worship mammon. I am just as much of an advocate of removing them from leadership as well.
