Or this one by Spurgeon: “The Word of God is like a lion. You don't have to defend a lion. All you have to do is let the lion loose, and the lion will defend itself.”
I've heard a version of that by Spurgeon, yes. :)

Another one from Spurgeon is about reconciling things in Scripture with one another, as in: 'How do you reconcile God's sovereignty with human resposibility?" Spurgeon's retort was: 'I would not wish to try to reconcile two friends...!'

Another great question, aspen!
I think a lot of little things bought me here. But the biggest thing was just wanting to mull over theological issues with other believers. When you're reading scripture or studying other things, questions and thoughts come to mind. You obviously can't ask the authors! And while, sure, we pray about our queries, it just is a helpful thing, I find, to take such things to the body. And while I'm involved with my local church, I think perhaps my pastor would get sick of me emailing every couple of hours with a thought or question!
Forums just allow conversation, fellowship and back and forth with other believers. They help you either come to an understanding on certain passages, or cement previously held ones, due to the digging one must do when presenting ones thoughts.

So...mostly for that. But, also, I'd say that I enjoy standing for and proclaiming God's truth. We can't really know how many non-believers come through the board, or what they will read. I suppose I pray that God will use what is on this forum for those people, somehow.

I enjoy your posts - you challenge me

I know what you are talking about. After the Lord saved be I had to drop many old friends who then became some of the greatest enemies. So it's a matter of staying off of their radar and a type of self imprisonment involved in avoiding them.
Yup, that's it . . . a form of self imprisonment staying off the radar!

The rocks cry out.

I am driven. When the wave of His spirit rises, I have succumb to surfing rather than being crushed and washed up on the beach. He is my Rock.

I am here to share the word of God online when I am not out and about speaking with people.

As well, I get to hear testimonies of people of multiple denominations.

And to mention All of my posts are from my phone, so I get lots of finger exercise.

Glory to God,
Taken

@"ByGrace" Do you like Spurgeon, too? (Thanks for the 'like').

Cut my teeth on Spurgeon and A.W Tozer. Leonard Ravenhill , Smith Wigglesworth and others... OH and for sure Andrew Murray...most of them holiness preachers.

If there is one thing I have learned in my walk with the Lord, it is to learn from those who walked close to God, and have gone before me.
Spergeon and A.W. Tozer are two of those men that I have learned to glean from his incredible knowledge, experience, and life in the Lord.
And, though they all long since passed away, their legacy still lives on.

I have read Spurgeon and some of Andrew Murray to profit; I've heard of but am not directly familiar with the others.

i am interested to hear why you have decided to post here. Some have been clear about why they have decided to contribute to this board - Bread of Life is here to challenge his perceived misconceptions about the Catholic Church (NOT THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH IDIOTS); meanwhile, Helen is here primarily for the fellowship. I am here to clarify my own beliefs in the moment and to have a record of change over time. So, why are you here?
Hi, I'm new here but not new to Christian forums. In all honesty i'm here because Carm is down:)

I love apologetics, exposing false teaching but as Paul says 'with gentleness...' 2 Tim 2. I feel when our faith is challenged, we grow. And as we plant seeds God can use those opportunities for Him.

I thought I know.
Well I originally joined this Site 8 years ago for fellowship in Christ with others of like mind.

BUT...it seems maybe that 'reason' is now changing quickly.
Either that , or I need to 'it the road' and move on...

There has been much change here. And where I sit, not for the better.

This morning I was wondering about the word 'obsession'.
When does obsession turn into something even stronger .. :(

I know we are not called to welcome cults ( which seems to be all embracing to even include charismatics and Pentecostals also...) but it seems to me that "we hate cults" has slipped into , 'we hate the people in the cults.'

The fellowship side of this Site has shrunk, plus warmth and respect seems to have gone out of the window. So...I ask myself afresh..."What AM I here for!"

In other words- Do I have the energy to stay here and try to water down all the negativity and anti-everything.....or is it time to just move on and let 'em have the floor , bringing the Site right down.

So yes Ron, I echo your question to myself...what on earth am I here for?

Carm can be rough, even within the rules. I have browsed some and don't see the hostility here or the rhetoric or people blatantly taking you out of context just to score a point. It does give you a thick skin though. Present the word, and move on.

Browse further and you will find it, lol. I do not think there is an online community out there that is exempt from the nitpicking and name-calling.
If I haven't already welcomed you NonDenom, welcome...I think I did tho...o_O:)
