No where in scripture are you given instructions to try to imitate Jesus, live like he lived, do the miracles he did and so on. The greatest hindrance to your Christian walk will be trying to imitate Jesus. There is a big push in religion to try and be like something your not, I call it the dangling carrot syndrome.

Have you not seen the pictures of the horse drawn carriage with the driver holding the carrot on a pole in front of the horse to get him to chase it. That is full blown religion, promises of things that do not exsist and the people buy into it like there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The word is very clear not to chase your imaginations, it even says to cast them down. You ever wonder who used to buy all those Enquire magazines knowing it was all lies, no truth to the stories? People have an inquiring mind that runs wild, cast that thing down.

You will do the same thing trying to be Jesus, your not Jesus your you, be the unique you you were created to be. Dont try to be somebody else, be you. What the scriptures do give us is a pattern to follow. What is a pattern? A pattern is laid over something and the outline can be cut from it. Patterns are used in making clothes. Patterns are used in alot of things, but the pattern laid over you is Christ. You being swallowed up by him. Your life as you have known it no longer exsists and now your life is Christ.

The pattern is laid for this by the Apostle Paul, he gives us example after example of Christ living through you, coming out of you as you were created. Enough cannot be said about your mind renewed to Christ that is in you. Paul tells us to follow him as he follows the Lord. Why such a remark? Because he will take you into the understanding of who your life and pattern is. Paul is a pattern, the things that happened to Paul, such as his understanding, his revelation of the indwelling Christ in him, and his gospel should all be happening to the believer.

Paul is our pattern, when he said in Gal. 1:11-12, his gospel was not of man, our gospel should not be of man. When he said at a particular time he had a revelation of the indwelling Christ, we should be able to point to a time and say I have had a revelation of the indwelling Christ. When he said I will come to revelations in the Lord, we should be able to know and understand what he means and quote him verbatim.

Paul is the pattern for Christianity, follow on to know the lord.

We can Scripturally be followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, can't we?

Obedience to His revealed will in Scripture.; and prayerful feeding on the Word, daily; and by seeking to honour Him by following activities of Acts 2.42, etc.

Thanks, yes I believe there are many ways to follow Jesus that brings him honor.

I always wondered what that meant? Do you have a thought on it? How do we follow Jesus?

We can follow Jesus from different distances. There were crowds of people that followed Him around. How many times does it say...and multitudes (thousands) followed Him? Of course the disciples who ended up walking IN Him were few. To be IN Him is the closest we can be to Jesus. But there are many who follow Christ so as to inspired to act righteously. Like the heat given off from the flame.

So then for these we could say as Jesus did ...he who is not against us is for us.

One day some of these may draw nearer. Until then we don't judge these...judge nothing before the time.

But some of these followers from a certain distance show themselves as hostile and jealous of they who are nearer (the spirit of Cain).

In that case Jesus says...he who doesn't gather with Me scatters abroad.
