See Nancy your humility is true humility, it’s not false humility. I hear it in your posts, this to me is Christ like.

Hey Nancy! At this level we are not talking about just salvation...but glory! :)

There are not many of us cut out for this...but it is wise to acknowledge the power of the gospel rather than reduce it to what the modern doctrines teach. God is offended at what we have done to the truth. We have done violence to the truth.

So I don't know if I measure up either. But I will not stop honouring God and speaking those things He has shown me.

But I think that high calling is for "all who will"...it depends on our seeking and wanting that much of God. I'm here to say...this is how much is actually available to us...right NOW! :)

We need to encourage one another to seek the Lord for these things. To never give up as long as we are here. To wait on the Lord, always seeking, asking, and knocking until the doors of heaven swing open.

I have walked in that place twice. Once for a short time...3 days...and the other for like 2 years or a little more. So I know the walk. But I also know how hard it is to get there. God has to show mercy to us and allow us to have that level of walk AND responsibility. I figure He let me in based on the lack of other choices! ;)

Here let’s have a look at this this is post 59 in response to your post 58

“At this level we’re not talking about just salvation.... but GLORY”

Who’s glory?
“ there are not many of us cut out for this”

Cut out for what?

“ so I don’t know if I measure up either. “

“I have walked in that place twice”

How can a person experience what’s alleged, and say I don’t know if I measure up? Is this statement i don’t know if I measure up false humility or is it truly humility?

I love brother Episkopos also, but he needs to see this, and stop perverting the truth.

Oh boy...you are so kind to say that Waiting ♥ But, there are little pockets of pride still in me  mostly not knowing my physical limits because I do not want to appear weak or lazy. And...there is the issue of criticizing others in my mind...HATE that! Of course, there is also realizing that I can sometimes be hypocritical...that does tell me that Gods light is showing me these things so as to be aware and to fight the good fight, repent and give thanks.

Meekness and humility is the power of Christ in you. The problem with to many of us we’re to strong. He asks for a broken and contrite spirit.

Hi Waiting,
I do believe Epi sees truth a bit differently when it comes to spiritual things. I could never say that someone who claims to have had an experience with God is not telling the truth as, how could any but God know that? I do understand what you say here too, about measuring up but, I just can't speak to it as, this is his belief/reality, not my own.
I do not agree on many things with many on here and, I do not see as ANY believe in the very same way - Yikes, sad commentary on the Church :(...the Word told us about all of it so, all of our differences can be accepted or rejected by each other but, it is in the way it is rejected within this forum that grieves me. Not one person on here or anywhere should be telling others "I'm right and you are wrong". And, we can still proclaim our faith/beliefs/doctrine without all the division.
We all have our little cliques on here, lol...nothing wrong with that, we can be drawn to an others spirit because of various reasons. But, I don't want to be someone who just "likes" posts just because I like the person! Lol. We ALL need to be teachable...♥

The riches of a disciple of Christ are found only in Christ. In this world they are never our own. It's not as if we are receiving payment here for what we have done (rewards) in Christ....or even as a free gift. A servant first serves his master...THEN the master sees to recompensing his servant. That day is coming. So we should fear (in our normal everyday person) that we are not being well pleasing to God. With this fear comes a comfort in the inner man.

Here we are at war.

Many will claim that there is only peace and safety...saying peace peace. Our peace is only found by abiding in Him.

The battle is in the mind first. The enemy wants you to relax...to think everything will be alright. That somehow we have already arrived. And in this way a seduction comes over us that lulls us into a deep sleep....a spirit of deep sleep. Weren't all 10 virgins asleep when they were warned to get ready?

But this is not a physical sleep but a spiritual one. This world can become a dream world where things happen without any connection to the truth. In this world there is a false sense of reality, of security, of peace.

In the Spirit there is the perception of war all around. Of being a light in the darkness. One perceives a spirit of blindness and a lack of urgency to get into the truth. A false reality...together with a pseudo-religion that provides a false assurance.

When Jesus rebuked Satan's words in Peter's comforting attempt to take away the tribulation of Jesus to come...He said...

"you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns."

So then to the outer carnal mind there are no worries or concerns about God's will...there are no perceivable problems. All is well.

We have an epidemic of people taking the promises of God for themselves in their outer man...rather than seeking to get the outer man out of the way in order to be edified in the inner man. Look what Jesus said to a church leader..

Rev. 3:17 'Because you say, "I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing," and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,

How is that possible? How could a church leader be that immature? Well this is a person who never understood what part of himself was meant to be connected to God. It is the confusion between being deluded into a false assurance of riches and favour in the outer man or being edified from within. The difference between remaining outside and going inside. Edified in weakness by God's grace. So then the true status of that believer was that his inner man was never getting edified...all went to serve the carnal understanding of that man. He remained as a newborn baby inside.

This is the status of the modern church...having turned a miraculous walk in the Spirit into a religion of self-righteous assurance for the flesh.

Pew warmers. I was one of those persons once. Go through the motions and hoping for some kind of change, that never comes to be. I do agree about most of the mainline Church's never getting their flocks off the milk. They can be showing up every Sunday for decades and have not moved an inch in growth. Sad :(

Yes, this can so easily happen. People can get these ideas stuck in their heads, and then spend the rest of their lives, sifting through the Bible, finding ways to make it say those things.

They can go for years and years, deeper and deeper into Scripture, but only getting deeper into themselves, in their belief that they are actually above Scripture, not to be subject to it. So they are not.

But Scripture, being God's revelation, you can't actually make it say whatever you want, it doesn't work that way.

And Jesus told us the way to tell. By their fruits you shall know them.

Only by realizing that you don't have what you think you do, can you let go of what you don't actually have, so your hands can be open to receive the true.

Only in truth are we truly set free.

Much love!

I look at the congregation where I attend, and see a varied mixture, but as I've been there for a number of years I see the growth as well.

We are a church body very much filled with love for each other, and for God. And there are those who come and go without much other interaction, so it's hard to know about them.

But on the whole, I've never seen a more loving bunch!

My chief desire at my church is for more meat in the teaching. But even coming onto this forum, there is the renewed discovery of those who don't actually know for themselves what the Bible says.

So sadly, constant milk may be appropiate! But we do have small groups that go much deeper.

For me, the change from the waiting and hoping to the growing and living came when I discovered what God had truly done for me.

I think it's that knowledge that releases us into our new life, in our total death to sin, the flesh, the world, the law, crucified, what that means. When we understand that, wow!

Much love!

Hi Waiting,
I would like to re-reply to your post. I do
not believe Epi is perverting the truth. If one has an experience with God then, I could never say that they did not and...he has some points that can be hard to understand as we have heard everything we know in a certain way, and most just stop there. He has clarified some of my questions and has given me much food for thought, as have yourself and many others on here. Whatever is read that I do not understand, I will question who wrote what and where is that in the Word, etc...then I will pray about it and seek His face as He WILL bring us into all truth. So, @Episkopos I am sorry for appearing to agree that you pervert the truth...you do not, IMO.
Love you brother ♥
In Him Always!

The wonders of the Kingdom of God...in comparing spiritual with Spirit...how do we define “light”? To see the light of God that went out into the world and they see it not? Ezekiel 28:15-17 describes a “brightness” Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. [16] By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. [17] Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

“Thine Heart was lifted up because of thy beauty...” again comparing things of the earth with the earthly or comparing spiritual things with spiritual things. What is beauty to God? Beautiful are the feet of those who publish peace.

What is the light and brightness of Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Revelation 21:23-24 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. [24] And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.

Isaiah 60:3-4 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. [4] Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.

The Gentiles shall come to thy light...King’s to thy rising. Lift up thine eyes ...see them “gathered” to Him? He said who doesn’t gather with Him...scatters.

Isaiah 62:1-2 For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. [2] And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name.

To say we have seen a shining light? What light? What shall the Gentiles see of His rightness and the Kings His glory that the world receives not for it has not known or seen His shining light? Comparing earthly things with that of the earth? OR comparing the Spiritual with the Spiritual

Beauty and light is surely seen but not with natural eyes...see it here:
Genesis 50:15-21 And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him. [16] And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying, [17] So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him. [18] And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants. [19] And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? [20] But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. [21] Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

Which light are we speaking of seeing shining?2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

The shining of that light offered to all men...the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Comfort in Proverbs 4:17-20
[17] For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. [18] But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. [19] The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble. [20] My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

John 6:33-35
[33] For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. [34] Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. [35] And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

At some point, you have to let men try to articulate what they have seen. Epi says when he walked in the Spirit, He saw a most amazing light. Another man says when he was in the Spirit, He saw locusts with hair like women and sharp teeth And many other amazing things. In fact, that man also talked about a wonderful light he saw. In fact, read it again, he talked a lot about light he saw when he was in the Spirit! You have to just let men describe what they see when they are in the Spirit. I've had 3 brief times of being in the Spirit and I am very hard pressed to even TRY to articulate it as John did in Rev and as epi did. The first time, I begged God to stop or I would die. The second time, I begged for it NOT to stop. The third time, every chronic ache and pain I suffer with was suddenly gone and I climbed stairs so effortlessly I almost felt like I must be floating, somehow untethered from my body.

I don't question what anyone has seen, or heard, or touched, or experienced. All manner of people see and hear and experience all sorts of things.

There is much I've experienced, but for me, it's very personal, very private, it would feel like sharing intimate details about my marriage.

But also, I see such things often distracting away from Scripture itself, until the experience becomes the sought-after thing. The interest in telling and hearing can be towards encouraging, but it can also be purient, and prideful. Also discouraging when some certain experience is lifted up as "This is it, everybody".

And very problematic when the experiences don't match with what's in Scripture. When teachings lead away from Scripture, even more problematic.

To rate our relationship with God based on what we experience with our senses is contrary to what I read in Scripture, specifically that our walk is by faith, and not by sight.

There is a place for personal testimony. But there is also much confusion. The fact is, some speak truth, some fiction, some are deceived, and others are deceivers. But in Scripture there is only truth.

I have a relationship with God such that there is no question in my mind, both in what I read from the Word, and what I know from my experience with God, that I have a faithful Creator Who is right now here giving me a good day, good, that is, in the sense of giving me the grace of walking in His Spirit, and it is love, and it is joy.

True liberty is found in truth alone.

Much love!

The experience of walking in Him and being found in Him is very dangerous because men then desire to be in Him and that takes away from all the scriptures that talk about this...yeah...danger!

Oh yeah, it's very problematic when Epi talks about the light he saw because it doesn't match scripture, like...when John talked about being in the Spirit one certain day and all the light he saw radiating under what appeared to be a sea of glass.

Yeah, it would be okay if his description of seeing light matched up with Johns experience of seeing light, but wow, it doesn't, because John described seeing light and epi described seeing light, so that means Epi didn't see anything even remotely similar... very dangerous!

The problem arises when unscriptural teachings are introduced. And Scripture becomes redefined into something other than what the language written actually says.

Much love!

It's not that.

I keep saying, I have nothing to say about what anyone says that they saw. People see all sorts of things, and I'm not planning to dispute with any of them.

It's the teaching that accompanies these reports of visions or what have you. When I find that they contradict what I find in my Bible, that is the issue.

Much love!

Then why didn't you think it important to point out what was unscriptural in his first few posts? What has he said that is unscriptural or dangerous?

Because even though I peer very strenuously into his first few posts here again, I find nothing so terrifying as you, waiting in Him and charity seem to find.

The only thing I see is that somehow epi seems to be the smell of death to you...
