Jesus said in Revelations, do the things I hate and I will be to you as a thief. Jesus hated the way of this world. The things that take a man's life, put him in bondage. When we come to Jesus, without proper understanding we hold him imprisioned in darkness, as a thief. And it is also written he was put in prison before he was crucified, like a thief. He also said you did or did not visit me when I was imprisioned, did not feed me , give me to drink, and then again some did.

It is not wtitten that Jesus was put in prison before his crucifition. The passage you are quoting is from the parable of the sheep and goats. Jesus said when ever you visted someone inprison, fed, clothed etc you did it for/to me.

It helps to understan just what the bible is saying or to quote the ch+ verse.

I thought I gave enough info to know the verses but I do almost everything from remembrance.
What you said about imprisioned confirms what I just said. Do it to these and you do it unto me. He is talking about his followers and doing it to them is doing it to his body so it is doing it to him. If you have not the true understanding you are not doing it but keeping him imprisioned in darkness and that is come like a thief and you don't even know he has come. The when is when someone starts with Jesus but yet does not have understanding. Then even the little proper understanding you have is killed by the flesh or what you see in what is written.

How does the act of a mortal man imprision the Lord of Creation?

The only being I am aware that is imprisoned is satan.

Did Jesus say what you do to these you do to me? Darkness is the same as imprisoned in darkness until you are set free. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. If you give the body of Christ understanding, teach the Spirit, the Spirit is the truth and the truth will set you free. Give and it shall be given unto you. Is it necessary I look up all these things to give you the verses?
I don't want to confuse others but we need to work together to have one accord and that being, seeking God. God is Spirit so it is the Spirit we seek and that is the Spiritual understanding as the4 flesh is seen the Spirit is invisible and so with the scriptures.

You have a very serious misunderstanding about this metaphor. Coming as a thief, or a thief in the night, simply means without any warning, unexpectedly, and suddenly.

Nope, God called the darkness night so thief in the night is as darkness. The word as the written letter kills and the word of God clothes you so teach it in darkness you steal the robes of another and they are of the body of Christ. You then make the word of Jesus the thief and if you do it intentionally he will take what you have, also as a thief in the night. A thief doesn't come when you are expecting him or in the light. God called the light , day.

But Jesus effectively imprisoned himself when he took on a veil of flesh subject to the temptations that afflict carnal men. He broke loose from that prison by the Word of God which He was and is. He overcame all of the temptations of flesh rather than allow them to overcome Him. Having done that He then laid down His own life as an undefiled sacrifice to open the Way for all of us. When people take the scripture which are themselves His Body, but use it based on their own carnal conclusions instead of allowiing it to be quickened [brought to Life] within them, therein lies the thievery of which our friend @Collin Feener speaks.

We must work in the day while there is Light before the night comes and darkness remains:

"I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work" John 9:4

Some people today reading his words in scriptures without understanding effectively work to put him back into prison because their delusions.

It also means that Jesus did not come to mankind 2000 years ago in His glory, but without warning to most who only initially saw in him a man of flesh like themselves. Even when he opened his mouth to speak and at least one said, "Never man spake like this man." John 7:46, very few understood who he was and even fewer understood what he was doing. He was indeed come as thief in the night to their blind eyes.

When he was betrayed and taken by the Romans, he would not speak and he said , now I am glorified or the son of man is glorified. He would not speak to the pharacies or the priest or the Jews and very little if he did. What does that say if you look at prophecy for the people after.

I associate that verse in Revelation with the parable about the talents. The message to Sardis seems to be a reminder of what Jesus gave them and what they have done with it. ("Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard.") Are they ready to give account? In the parable of the talents, we see the master returning and asking for an account of what he gave his servants. The servants who did well got rewarded; but the servant who hid his talent and did nothing with it had his talent taken from him and also got punished. That could be said to be like a thief coming at an unexpected time; but the master wasn't really a thief, he was only demanding what was his to begin with.

While Jesus did not come in His glory at His first advent, it was DEFINITELY NOT without warning. The whole reason for the existence and ministry of John the Baptizer was to publicly herald the coming of Messiah to Israel. Indeed he declared Him to be "the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world".

Behold, I will send my messenger [John], and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to His temple, even the Messenger of the Covenant [Christ], whom ye delight in: behold, He shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. (Malachi 3:1)

MARK 1
1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
2 As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
5 And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
6 And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;
7 And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.
8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

However, when Christ comes for His saints at the Rapture, it will be like a thief in the night -- totally unexpected and unannounced. A huge surprise.

"Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee." Rev 3:3

What have we done with what we have been given? We can also find Jesus speaking here with regard to different people receiving varying amounts with which to work:

"But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." Luke 12:48

"Much is given... much required"

I don't believe I said anything that disagreed with the verses you posted. Of course there were warnings, but how many people knew about them and of those who did know about them, how many accepted that Jesus was the fulfillment of the prophecies? It may be readily apparent to you or to me but...

"Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee." Matt 12:38

The scribes and Pharisees were the Bible experts, the ones who should have know exactly what to expect, but they proved themselves to be quite blind. They did not really want another sign. Jesus had already provided signs in the course of his 3½ year ministry if that would have satisfied them...

Will it?
Well it is not in my plans but I won't discuss any rapture with you and derail the thread for no good purpose I can see.

I find it interesting that the servant given only one talent was the one who didn't do anything with it. Little was required of him, but he still didn't do it. It seems that God has a way of figuring out who is best trusted with what. I think if we are given little and faithful with that, then He sees us as more trustworthy and gives us more.

This is certainly a valid point. In the final judgment on each person how much he received does not really matter to God, but God still does choose to use people who have the necessary abilities [talents] to do the work He calls them to do. Consider the men named to lead and do the necessary work in the construction of the tabernacle in the wilderness:

"See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:
And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship," Exo 31:2-3

"And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee;" Exo 31:6

And then again let us not forget Saul/Paul who was a man very well educated in the scriptures before he really knew God. God certainly knew well why He called Paul as the man who was to write most of what we name the New Testament.

God did not want someone who simply loved Him. He wanted that but He made certain the called person had the gifts to do the required task before him. Were new gifts given? Perhaps, but the old gifts... call them natural gifts if you will... were also to be used.

We are all given a little, for example, we are to wash in the blood of Jesus. People burry that away and it gives them no interest. They don't understand it and they say it but they know not what it means. Of course we cannot wash in his physical blood so what is the blood. It's his Spirit for the blood is a mans life and his blood was the Spirit. People burry that away in earthly teachings. Not much is expected of that person because he himself is buried in the earthly teachings but now, the man given five seeks out more and doubles his find but getting the spiritual understand and the ten has the most so the first looses even what he has and the ten receives what little the first had , the one as he adds more to his teachings. Thats because if you give the spirit God will add to you getting. You cannot out give God

The temple is not built from mans hands but from the teachings of God but you were very good in the writings of Exo. To love God is to love his teachings and his teachings are Spiritual. You can't love the earthly sayings and the Spiritual because you would have two masters, You would love the one and hate the other. If you love the flesh, Jesus is a thief to you.

Even so and indeed when a person first comes to God he is very carnal, but as he grows toward God, the new man, that is the spiritual man goes to work with the power of the Holy Spirit [no hands of man] within him to kill the old man and all of his ways:

"He must increase, but I must decrease" John 3:30
