I don't think I am confused...I just think I don't always know what God wills. So if He does not give me what I ask, it doesn't mean He didn't hear me, it just means He is the one who knows what I need and what His plans are.

Do you remember when David said (about the man throwing rocks at him) no don't hurt him, leave him alone because God hasn't told me what He's doing. If he's throwing rocks at me its because God told Him to (or for some purpose of God's).

Have you ever been on another site by the name joannieMarie?
No ...I kept Miss H...I was Elaine Bennis many years ago...but that darn name was taken so much...I had to change and thus keep Miss Hep...I think changing your name is 'hiding'.

Ah, you are thinking of human fathers....imperfect, undesirable fathers.
Shift gears...
Picture a perfect father...with NO agenda...no thought of whether he is spoiling his daughter...a father just wildly in love with his
little girl that wants everything in life that is wonderful for her.
That is God, the Creator of All That Is. That's the Father I know. :)

This example isn't working for me, BECAUSE I was ultimately thinking of God rather than a human father. I think He is pleased to give me a car. Should I ask Him for a new, shiny, red one, a convertible? Its a wonderful tool to get me from place to place. I don't care what a tool looks like. I only care that it serves the purpose for which it was made - to get me from place to place faster than walking.

This example isn't working for me,....
I tried to come up with an example that seemed far-fetched...a desire, so 'unnecessary', a red conv....whimsical.
And when you are madly in love ....wouldn't you get it for that special someone? Blindly in love?
Well, God is blindly in love with me...and you, too. Probably more me...LOL :p

We aren't connecting here lol.
Just so you don't hold it against her.

How close to one another now are many who will ultimately be part of the Body of Christ? I know that some who will presume that they are to be, won't be, but for those who submit to Him... even though now seemingly quite different, He will work on them and in them until they do fit together perfectly. When we see all of the conflict here on this really small group on this forum, it makes us realize just how really able our God is. What is so impossible for us is NOT at all impossible for Him. All of us trusting in Him, in spite of our differences is the key!

And...God didn't make me see war immediately. I went a long time (maybe...5 years?) And then one day I said, I'm pretty sure some hard things will come to me. Soon after, they did. But He knows when each of us are ready. :)

Complacency or expectation?

I think that we in the west have begun to take God for granted; we have settled for what is in our heads; we have lost our awe and our sense of expectation.

This was revealed to me in a very real way this morning at our church meeting.

One Sunday we had a visiting pastor from Freetown in Sierra Leone, once a drug addict, gangster, drunk and sex addict. He is now leading a church that seeks to reach people who are living the sort of life he once led.

Last year my friends, Bob and Margaret, who pastor a church in the NW of England and who used to be our neighbours and part of the church I now belong to, went over to SL for a visit and today I heard an incredible story about their ministry there.

After the worship there was a call for those who needed prayer to come forward. We've all been in places where that has happened, but what happened next was astounding.

A lady approached my friend and asked him to pray for her to regain her sight. She was wearing a hood pulled well down over her face so he asked her if she would mind removing it. She did so and he was so shocked by what he saw that he had to close his eyes.

That lady had no eye balls but he laid hands on her and began to pray as the spirit led him. The lady started to scream but he carried on praying, still with his eyes closed, and when he eventually opened his eyes he couldn't believe what he was seeing. The lady's eyes had been restored, they had grown back.

Now this isn't a guy who earns big bucks on a high profile preaching circuit. To me he is a good friend who gives great hugs, and was the guy next door whose wife is my very best friend and whose kids I have seen grow up. Somebody I spend time with and respect greatly.

He wants to be used by God and God uses him.

A lesson to all of us do you think?

And these very things are recorded happening with John G. Lake and Smith Wigglesworth. Yes.
Right in my own town a pastor was notified his son had died, but he couldn't be reached right away so it had been 'awhile'!...then,
it took at least 40 min to come down into the city.
He and his wife prayed the entire time that he be ok...he had a toe tag and was in a morgue bag...well, as they were praying
he came back to life and is alive today years later....these thing don't make the paper.

These are not surprising things and are channeled through your regular ole neighbors...yes.
Spirit trumps the physical, period.
The sick can be healed...yes. We are limited only by our beliefs.

Sigh, the Holy Spirit. How glorious.
But, this won't be only praise so I placed it here.

The magic, the wonder, the feeling, the experiences of this Indwelling Spirit...oh my!
My experiences have been ... well, hard to put into words at times.
Sweeping, like a breeze that washes through me - through every part of me...
There is no mistaking the Holy Spirit...it is not an angel...it's God.

I'll talk more about individual surprise visits later. :) Cuz wow...takes my breath away.
I suppose if 'feeling' is the measure of the Spirit, scripture can and will be sidestepped or denied but if God's word is the measure by which we determine this matter I find it has nothing to say about 'feeling'

Here are some scriptures that support feelings related with the Holy Spirit.....
Romans 15:13
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 4:30
And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.…

The Holy Spirit is very much a part of us and we can and do FEEL His presence and His love....and HE FEELS as well.

Ephesians 4.30 really does show that the Holy Spirit is a real Person, right? :)

Joy and Peace Heart2Soul are definitely the result of the Spirit as are the other qualities that manifest when a person has come clean and is connected to the vine. For the lack of a better expression you could call this 'feeling'.

Primarily, I was addressing the ecstatic experience that so often is touted as evidence of the Spirit. The Spirit does not draw attention to itself, it testifies of Jesus, it brings people to an awareness of their sin and encourages repentance and awakens the desire to be obedient.
The Father is revealed in the Son...the Son testifies to the Father....the Spirit testifies to the Son. Neither of the three are self focused in their roles. Those that have the Spirit will also testify to the Son.

You must never have experienced those feelings.

That certainly is a perspective...as far as sidestepped or denied...I can sidestep eating or even breathing when I am experiencing
the Holy Spirit. Yes...many things are forgotten in the moment.

I, also, when standing many times in the middle of the Magic Kingdom, in Orlando that is,
it's the same thing...I forget what everyone has ever exclaimed to me and any map I could have used.
I am having the experience written about in all the brochures....the air filled with gardenias and magic. Ah. :)

'Evidence' is not a word I need to use...not something I think about.

I can visit a church and sense in my spirit whether the Holy Spirit is present or not. So when I say "sense" I mean feel as well. It is hard to explain....but never have I ever experienced the Holy Spirit drawing any attention away from Jesus. Jesus sent Him here to us to be our comforter, teacher and our connection to God to speak what He hears. And He came with GIFTS!...which He gives to us to manifest His power through.
