@farouk I did change to 2 votes because I notice you can vote more than once, it would depend on whether someone had one or not, I got no tattoos and don't plan to get any so ye. Hehehehe :p

@Josho Well, okay! thanks. Sounds like you probably come from a family that doesn't tend to go for tattoos, anyway...(I may be wrong...)

Sister does, not sure whether if my brother has any, both live elsewhere though.
Well, really it's not surprising now that it's the women of a family that have it done first; it used to be very much a man thing but this has changed enormously; I read someplace that in North America 59% to 70% or more of parlor clients are female.

(So would hers be faith based, do you happen to know?)

@Josho Oh so she has gotten much more than one, then. Sometimes at 18 young adults do it as a rite of passage to show that they have become adults, but don't necessarily get more; but some ppl also - apparently like your sister - find the parlor atmosphere congenial thereafter. (Hope your mom wasn't too 'shocked' by all the ink her daughter acquired... :) )

(Anyway, you can see why so many Christians now see it as an opportunity for faith based conversations arising from their ink.)

Both are half brother and half sister from dad's previous marriage before he was Born Again.

So don't think my mum was shocked, hehehe.

@Josho
It doesn't do to be shocked at ppl's ink these days! a design on my arm faded, wasn't successful.

Sounds like your mom doesn't have any ink! (even though these days many moms do...)

Would they likely be described even as a bit hostile to ink, maybe?

I wouldn't be too sure, mum does get wowed at some people having so many tattoos though. I guess it don't surprise dad too much because he has been involved in ministry for the homeless, those on the streets and prisoners before.

@Josho Well anyway maybe your mom isn't quite accustomed to it yet but it's what people do now, especially in North America. I saw this quote from the Bible Belt:

QueenCat said:
Around here (Bible Belt), it is common, especially among evangelical Christians, for the girls under about 40 to have religious tattoos. More do than don't, especially when you get to the under 30 crowd. I hardly know any female at church that is under 30 that does not have a tattoo.

If your mom happened to live in North America, she would probably get more accustomed to it; having once been overwhelmingly a man thing years ago, it's just so very obviously become in North America a very widely and highly desired feminine thing to do.

Leaving aside likes and dislikes and opinions, a lot of Christians would see it pragmatically as an opportunity for silent witness in faith tattoo designs and/or as effective conversation-starters; your mom might not see the logic now - but she might eventually see other Christians' ways of looking at it.

Abortion is common now, and drinking getting drunk, and partying, same as the growth of all categories of sinfulness, including tats.

World wide , the false gospel embraces everyone in their sin, to continue their sinfulness, instead of repenting, instead of stopping sinning,
instead of turning to God for God's Kingdom Way in Jesus.

A for example Scripture design effective in witness conversations is hardly in the same category as the other things.

Yes, I agree; we need to look to the Lord, prayerfully and searching the Scriptures day by day.
