Hmmm this verse just came to mind.

Unashamed

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

@Josho I mentioned before that my wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also; and I'm sure that other conversations have arisen as a result of the young lady having had the conviction to go to the tattoo parlor and have it done.

Evidently not ashamed of the Gospel, indeed.

(In some ways I wish more Christians worked in tattoo parlors.)

It's your thread...so however you want to handle it is fine.:)
@Heart2Soul I'm happy for there to be open discussion; if the discussion is really open - with different, strong viewpoints - then the possible illogicalities of some of them may in the long term become more apparent.

I suppose I spent so long at university that my mind-frame is rather analytical. (Although I do admit that we can't be too speculative when it comes to Scripture.)

When it comes to scripture I am very sensitive to it and how it is applied. I am spiritual....but in the past I had a tendency to over analyze a situation.

@Heart2Soul I know exactly what you mean. The point is that Scripture is the engrafted Word to be received meekly (James 1.27).

When it comes to a lot of matters, there is more than one way of looking at it. Romans 14 - the great chapter on Christian liberty (which some dear believers don't seem to be very familiar with) strongly implies as much.

Hence when it comes to something like tattoos, there is likely to be a number of views about them from various angles, among people who are sound in the faith.

I don't think you're tattooed, are you, if I remember correctly. For the purposes of discussion, it doesn't matter at all whether one is or is not.

What has maybe changed a bit in recent decades is that it has become so widespread, so that more Christians are likely to regard them now as witness opportunities (if this makes sense?)

I have never had any regrets xx
Rita
@Rita Well, I think as a Christian you said you prayed about it, meditated on Scripture, sought Godly counsel; and so seems like you are now truly satisfied to be a confidently tattooed woman.

(Maybe 20-30 years ago, though, maybe you would have been just a little bit surprised if you had known that one day you would become the grateful client of a tattoo parlor?) :)

@Rita True; but from your perspective now worth having changed your previous outlook about it, presumably; and I think that at one stage subsequently you might even have wondered about a Bible text/ref. on the other wrist, didn't you?

@Josho PS: Is your sister a believer?

You mentioned about not being ashamed of the Gospel and maybe by implication relevant to faith tattoos.

@Mayflower I think a while ago you said your ink was related in design to your first child, or planned to be. Hoping that your current term is coming along well; so any further plans for more ink, now that another is on the way?

Hi @Funny bird FYI.....did you see this new poll?
Just now but i.. Somewhat understand even if i do not have any on my whole body

I think it can help boost your faith but if you are declairing you will be saved on your tattoo the scriptures tell us that we can lost our salvation there's no such thing as once saved is always saved based on the doctrines of other church

@Funny bird Thanks for your response.
I do believe in the eternal security of the believer; Romans 8.38-39; John's First Epistle is very strong on the believer's assurance.

(Tattoos are sometimes simply used as faith witness tools.)
