Hi

Which day of the week is the correct sabbath to worship GOD? There has been much debate surrounding Saturday to be the original sabbath day of worship, but this was mysteriously changed to a Sunday by the papacy of Rome.

Isaiah 58:13.
Keep the Sabbath day holy. Don’t pursue your own interests on that day, but enjoy the Sabbath and speak of it with delight as the LORD’s holy day. Honor the Sabbath in everything you do on that day, and don’t follow your own desires or talk idly. Then the LORD will be your delight. I will give you great honor and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised to your ancestor Jacob. I, the LORD, have spoken.

No such thing as Christian Sabbath.
Yes and No. The Acts church was a branch of Judaism and was known as "The Way." The membership of the church were all Jews and when they joined the church through repentance and baptism they did not stop being Jews and create a load of so-called "Christian" activity. Before they became members of The Way they worked on Sunday and after they became members of The Way they continued working on Sunday so they would have met on Saturday or to be more precise, Sundown Friday until Sundown Saturday.

We know of the continuance of a Jewish way of thinking by the passage in Acts 15 where the Jewish church was demanding that believers from other areas were circumcised. There is no indication in scripture that any church in the New Testament met on Sunday as the scripture that talks about the first day of the week is in actual fact "one of the sabbaths."

The word Christian was unknown to them and they were first called Christians at Antioch and it was a name given to them by unbelievers as a name of derision.

Where is the Scriptural authority in the bible to state Sunday is the first day of the week? and that the sabbath should be observed on a Saturday? More specifically where does it indicate anywhere in the bible that GOD specified a literal day for the sabbath? Genesis 2:2 tells us that GOD did not name the days of the week, but rested on the seventh day.

Exodus 31:15
Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the LORD.

Colossians 2:16
Therefore do not let anyone condemn you in matters of food and drink or of observing festivals, new moons, or sabbaths.

In response to the above, would it be correct to say, GOD is telling his creation they must rest one day in seven and to keep the seventh day holy, regardless of which seventh day in the week that may be.

1. Saturday is the Sabbath day. On our calendar it is the 7th day of the week. Today, Orthodox Jews still honor that day as the Sabbath. They however, start it at Sunset on Friday.
2. Jesus and his disciples observed the Sabbath, though not without controversy amongst the Pharisees. Jesus was criticized for various works like healing people and allowing his disciples to gather food on the Sabbath. Jesus responded (paraphrasing) that he was the Lord of the Sabbath and that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
3. Sunday??? Well it's not the Sabbath, but it is a good day to have services. First, any day is as good as the other; second, in the NT is was asked by Paul to collect an offering on the first day of the week.
4. Today's Church is not under the Law and thus, isn't commanded to observe the Sabbath. And certainly not as strictly as asked in the OT.

That is a major point. If one says we are still commanded to keep the Sabbath, fine! Then do it the way it was commanded. I don't think many would be willing to do so.
5. I certainly wouldn't be against anyone observing the Sabbath. I wouldn't look down on them and would be happy for them. Unless of course, they used it as a sign of superior belief and an opportunity to look down on someone else.

To me our sabbath is whichever day we choose to rest from our labours and not necessarily a Sunday or a Saturday. Many people - even Christians - must work on those days so it makes sense if they do, to designate another day as a day of rest.

Pearl, something you said or perhaps the way you phrased thing triggered a thought. I am not disagreeing with what you said, but consider this:

Genesis 2:2 KJV
And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

God finished his work. It says "ended" but clearly he finished what he intended to do. He didn't rest till he was done. He didn't work Sunday to Wednesday and say, "boy I need a day off! I'll take a day off and then finish the job!"

Hope someone sees what I am getting at and wondering if there's not a mini lesson here...

Of course not. Violation of the Sabbath was a capital crime, as part of the 10 Commandments. How can this be monitored, and thus enforced, if each person observes it at their own discretion? How utterly absurd!

Not sure what you are saying. Perhaps I'm thick.

This, <debate surrounding Saturday> did not <mysteriously change the correct sabbath to worship GOD to a Sunday> and was not begun <by the papacy>, but by a cleric and a martyr IN THE CHURCH, Justin Martyr, who did it in the days of the Caesars using misinformation and pretentiousness to deceive and intimidate the sheeple and impress the Ruler-- the exact same tool and methodology used by politicians and potentates of today.

Re: <<Jewish church was demanding that believers from other areas were circumcised>>
First and more than enough reason to dismiss your whole verbiage. You quote this faitour!
