I would think he was set up, but will we ever know the truth?
Also for @Josho ...Another interesting twist..George was a bouncer and knew the Cop that killed him..they were co-workers..according to this NPR article

George Floyd and Derek Chauvin Were Once Co-Workers, Ex-Club Owner Tells TV Station

and they from another source...10, no 17 years as a bouncer according to the embedded clip? So when did he move from Houston to MN to do his ministry?

George Floyd and Police Officer Who Held Knee on Neck Worked Security at the Same Club Together

So is there a valid claim that George was working a ministry for God who allegedly came from Houston.....???

Then this last source says that George came up to MN in 2014....most probably closer to the truth......spent time in prison for armed invasion before moving to MN....
from the source:

His life later took a different turn and in 2007 Floyd was charged with armed robbery in a home invasion in Houston and in 2009 was sentenced to five years in prison as part of a plea deal, according to court documents.

Harris, Floyd’s childhood friend, said he and some of their mutual friends had moved to Minneapolis in search of jobs around 2014. Harris said he talked Floyd into moving there as well after he got out of prison.Floyd landed a job working security at a Salvation Army store in downtown Minneapolis. He later started working two jobs, one driving trucks and another as a bouncer at Conga Latin Bistro, where he was known as “Big Floyd”.

“Always cheerful,” Jovanni Tunstrom, the bistro’s owner, said. “He had a good attitude. He would dance badly to make people laugh. I tried to teach him how to dance because he loved Latin music, but I couldn’t because he was too tall for me. He always called me ‘Bossman’. I said, ‘Floyd, don’t call me Bossman. I’m your friend.’”

Harris said Floyd was laid off when Minnesota shut down restaurants as part of a stay-at-home order to curb the Covid-19 pandemic. He said he spoke with Floyd on Sunday night and gave him some information for contacting a temporary jobs agency.

“He was doing whatever it takes to maintain going forward with his life,” Harris said, adding he couldn’t believe that Floyd would resort to forgery. “I’ve never known him to do anything like that.”

Can't believe there isn't a thread about this after what i've been seeing from here...

Speak up my American friends

I was watching this on the news this week, and I had a vision of the major U.S. cities being on fire, and the fire quickly spreading throughout the U.S. before going out. I'm not sure what this means, but it seems that these race riots may touch more than just a few cities.

Americans have seen this many times in this country. With the frustrations caused by the lockdown, I'm not surprised that this is happening. I just heard the over 30 million people have lost their jobs due mostly to the nationwide lockdown. It was a bad call from the start! I could see places like New York being locked down, but not all of the U.S.

Of course, there are always people looking for a fight who don't care one iota for the guy who died at the hands of the policeman. The looting that's taking place proves this!

Please join us in praying for this nation, and I pray for the other nations represented on this forum as well!

If you want to understand what's behind the protests and why they are nationwide, rather than just in Minnesota where the murder of George Floyd occurred, listen to this man....

I don't know if any of you saw this from earlier, but in NYC after a black man asked a woman to leash her dog, she responded by telling him she would call 911 and "I'm going to tell them there's an African American man threatening my life."

Amy Cooper: White woman who called police on a black man in Central Park has been fired - CNN

That incident is a perfect indication of what these protests and riots are about. That woman understood exactly what she was threatening the man with. He understood what she was threatening him with. We all understand the threat. That's how pervasive this is. That's why the protests are nationwide.

I don't watch videos so I'll set that aside.

However, why don't you honestly admit that Antifa is behind this and the Democrats all support this anarchy? Finally, after three years, Trump and Barr have declared them to be the domestic terrorist group behind all these riots. But why were they not declared to be terrorists from the very beginning, and why did the DOJ and FBI ignore their existence earlier? Had all these paid rioters been behind bars, America could have been spared this horror.

Yes, Racism is very real. I do not get any special privileges because of my skin, but some people do! They get Affirmative Action.... employment opportunities and advancement because of their skin, and I get passed over! That's Racist! Admissions into Colleges is Racist in America! Even if you are more qualified apart from skin color, the bar is lower, and preference is given to people of darker shades of skin color!
I'm not sure you're up to date here. Many colleges have quietly dropped their affirmative action plans since they weren't working the way they thought they would. Others have kept them and are plagued with problems.

One problem with blacks in colleges, especially "elite" ones, is that white students often look at the blacks as being admitted only because they're black. That may or may not be true since some black students could have been admitted without the preference while others wouldn't be. Just ask Michelle Obama about it. She never felt comfortable at Princeton. I honestly don't know if she could have qualified on her own since I don't what her SAT score was; but she got in after her brother was admitted on a sports scholarship. So it's possible she was admitted because of the family connection or the black preference or perhaps she could qualified on her own. What I do know is that she was frustated there.

Welfare is easier to get if you are not White in America!
I would say more blacks (and other minorities) as a percent are on welfare than whites; but I wouldn't say it's because it's easier for them to get on. There are a variety of reasons for it with the biggest reason probably being the number of unwed mothers in various racial groups.

An analysis of out-of-wedlock births in the united states

Since 1970, out-of-wedlock birth rates have soared. In 1965, 24 percent of black infants and 3.1 percent of white infants were born to single mothers. By 1990 the rates had risen to 64 percent for black infants, 18 percent for whites. Every year about one million more children are born into fatherless families. If we have learned any policy lesson well over the past 25 years, it is that for children living in single-parent homes, the odds of living in poverty are great. The policy implications of the increase in out-of-wedlock births are staggering.

The welfare system is broken. I'm not arguing to be cruel to single mothers, but I sometimes think we may be making things too easy for them. I heard about a young black girl who wanted to move out of her parents' house. Her plan was to get pregnant so she could qualify for government assistance. That may sound crazy, maybe it is crazy; but it looked good to her. She didn't want a husband, she didn't really want a baby -- she just wanted out of her parent's house. Where she lived, she saw that young girls could get on welfare if they got pregnant. It seemed normal to her. Odds are her child will grow up with a similar outlook.

Things can be complicated. For example, I'd say many black members of Congress get elected because they run on promises to blacks to get them more this and more that. If they actually did it, the black people in their districts wouldn't have a reason to vote for them. If black voters never get real equality, the black politicians can keep getting elected by promising it. Mind now, when construction grants are made for black districts, most of the time the contracts go to white companies. The blacks get a building while the whites get the jobs and the profits. That is because the local black contractors aren't paying "union scale wages." The government would prefer to pay white companies more money when black companies would do it for less.
I have to endure an attitude that because I am White, I am evil; I supposedly get everything for free from some imaginary "White Privilege!" My family never owned slaves, and those ancestors that were here during the Civil war fought for the North against slavery.

Looking at the jobs I was refused because I was "White" (And yes! In the 1970's they would tell you that you were not the "right color" they needed to fulfill an Affirmative Action quota), and watching people of "color" get preferences I was never offered, has occurred all my life in every industry where I worked for someone... there is no such thing as "White Privilege," only "Racist Minority Privilege."
That program did some good in some places. It aroused antagonism in other places. There used to be a factory near me that made carpet. When they hired new people, the white workers would help the new hires if they were white -- if they were black, they'd tell them, "You are qualified for the job or you wouldn't have been hired so you don't need our help."

I grew up in a Northern mixed society where Whites were around 60-70% of the population. That percentage is changing in America every year to where the area I came from is about equal. Soon White's will be the minority in America... will I then be offered "Minority privilege?" When can White people in America be treated "more fairly"?
If the racial problems aren't fixed soon, you may soon find out what it's like to be in the minority. I am not joking. When you see black people rioting, burning cars and looting, they are expressing anger that they stifle when they are in situations where they're in the minority -- and they feel free to express it when they feel they outnumber the whites. Part of the "white anger" we see now is also fear of what people of color may do if and when they are in the majority.

As for living in the North? I'd say racism can be worse there than it is in the South. It's just hidden more, but the blacks in the big cities in the north probably have it worse than blacks living in the south.

If hatred begets hatred which begets more hatred where will it all end? Taken from a quote from Ms Manners....

"If rudeness begets rudeness, which begets more rudeness, where will it all end? Miss Manners often receives letters from people who assume that she is a believer and can supply a method to 'put down' this person or that. Miss Manners will not subscribe to such behavior. She does not allow rude people to spoil her life, but she does not seek satisfaction in spoiling theirs." -- Judith Martin ("Ms Manners")

You wouldn't like what I have to say.

This is a common theme in America. White Policeman kills a black. Blacks riot and destroy everything they can get their hands on.

Black victim will now be portrayed as a great man just trying to do the right thing.

These riots will continue as they are going to draw the liberal left crowd, who despise the present Trump administration, and can use this as a reason to vent their anger.

Both the racial and political divide are involved. I have always said, the divide is too great. Whether it occurs now or later, it will eventually be civil war.

All this 'unity' we Americans love to talk about is but a facade. We haven't been united in years.

Stranger

I fear that what you are saying is close to the mark. People aren't seeing the culture. The devil shouts out...racism racism! in a crowd and the people respond...even so called believers. So then in the name of culture Christ goes out the window. Now everything becomes political.

All I saw was a police culture clashing with somebody who resisted arrest. The police way over-reacted and criminally so. The payback spirit of the police got transferred to the mob and more payback was exploited.

The devil sits back and is satisfied that everyone is under his control...the church included.

There is a good chance things will calm down a lot in the next week. Governors have been quick to call out the national guard. Most people of all races don't want these riots; and they'll take the national guard more seriously than some people take their local police departments. All told, the national guard has been called out in 15 states and the District of Columbia. I'm thinking people of all races will sigh in relief if and when calm is restored; and cities with dubious police departments will take reform more seriously.

5,000 National Guard troops in 15 states and DC activated to help quell growing civil unrest

Genesse Co. Sheriff joins protestors during Flint Twp. march

FLINT TWP. (WJRT) - (5/30/2020) - Hundreds of people expressed their frustration during a peaceful protest in Flint Township.

The protestors carried signs and chanted as they made their way by foot and in cars along Miller Road in the heart of the Flint Township business district.

They marched to Police Headquarters where they demonstrated briefly.

While there, police and protestors talked and bumped fists.

Then in a show of solidarity, Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson joined the crowd and walked side by side in unity.

The peaceful protest lasted several hours.

This is unbelievable. Minneapolis police shooting paint canisters at people, and into their houses for standing on their own porch.

It's like a scene from a WWII movie.

There are Legal means for any group to gather for a protest.

There are also Laws for people to OBEY police Officers.

When a "Suspect" or "person of interest" Refuses to "OBEY" a police Officer, in some States the Law authorizes a Police Officer to USE Deadly Force, when a Person Refuses to OBEY a Police Officer, or Other authorized person.

No person is Required to TALK to a Police Officer, but THEY ARE Required BY Law to OBEY a Police Officer, without Resistance.

It is NOT an Unknown Fact...once a person Disobeys or Resists a Police Officer...it could escalate to their own personal Harm or Detriment.

So what are the people "Rioting" about?
The "death" of a man, by a Police Officer.

The People "rioting" are Breaking the Law.

Whether the Dead man Broke any Law to be Contained by a Police Officer is Irrelevant.

A Police Officer, does not Judge Guilty or Not Guilty.
A police Officers Job is to Peacefully take into Custody person's of interest or suspects.
When the person disobeys, resists, threatens the Officer, or flees...that person has Violated the Law.

And the Unauthorized Rioters have Violated the Law by gathering without a permit and destroying others property.

Bottom Line...From DEAD man to RIOTERS LAWLESSNESS has Escalated and "THEY" are in the Wrong and should be Rightfully Punished.

Glory to God,
Taken
Lawlessness indeed. Maybe I'm getting older and time has slipped past me unawares to when the transition from when cops were allowed to arrest law breakers, and now to where they are 'handcuffed.' Their bosses, the mayors and governors play the liberal politics card these days trying to appease and fit in with the new way of getting along in this modern society of dumbed-down misfits.. Oh that's right the cops cannot show any leadership and protection toward the peaceable folks these days. Their job is to now be extra patient as forgiving parents and coaches for these spoiled lawless creatures. I really get disturbed at the animal nature and bizarre looks and expressions of these 16-30-odd years olds. They are like zombies walking the earth....

Those riots are no longer about George Floyd. And not so sure it's about race either. Just seems to me a hell of a lot of criminals and agenda driven anarchists bent on having a good time.
hmmmm, yeahhhh....I think there is that element. There is something in mens pride that gets off on destruction.

I fear I am watching the collapse of my nation, between corona virus, the extreme division between right and left and now this, I am losing hope my nation will recover, especially since God has been removed from society as a whole. We are witnessing in my view what happens when the blessing of God on his people cease, and God allows mankind to just do what he wants.
When the French legislative assembly unanimously renounced the belief and worship of a Deity in 1793 the people danced and sang with joy in accepting the news.....the nation had opened itself to the control of demons and God's protective hand withdrew. The scenes that shortly followed were terrible. Corruption and moral debasement similar to that which prevailed in Sodom and brought about its destruction prevailed. Is the US of A on a similar trajectory?

Oh goodness Cristo! I was just about to start one!!!!! Our city has been hit hard all over downtown area and many other areas as well. Tonight we are all to keep in our homes after 9 PM (cept for essential personnel) as my area is going to get hit tonight. If we are caught outside after 9, we will be arrested. I feel some Marshal law coming down the pipe!
We are being told to put our cars in the yard and not leave them in driveways. We are all looking out for one another here. God bless and be safe and wise!

I thought the same thing, there was some reference to the riots on the thread about American politics.
It’s a bit of an emotive subject - I read one news article that was trying to make out that George didn’t die from asphyxiation, but ‘ other health issues ‘ and that toxins could be part of the equation. Clearly the video speaks for itself.
We had riots in London years back when the same thing happened- it’s not the best way of dealing with things. I don’t have a problem with people protesting, think there needs to be a reaction to what has happened. How can a police officer kneel on a persons neck like that and not realise that it’s going to put pressure on his windpipe - that kind of restrain should be banned.
Rita

Totally agreed Rita. We have a curfew here in Buffalo Ny and will get arrested if we are seen out on the streets after 9PM. Only essential personnel allowed. We are being instructed to put our vehicles in our back yards and as we speak, many businesses just down the road from me are boarding up their windows to prepare. This is so heartbreaking and Satan's hand is all over it. "Nation (nationality) shall rise against nation..." Not sure if that verse fits or not but, we are having race wars all over the US right now. And to think, it all started out peaceful and when the violent people came in, the peaceful ones left. How very sad. :(

Hi QT,
"Is the US of A on a similar trajectory?" I think we have been on this trajectory for some time now...like a pressure cooker about to explode. This country is so debased and divided, how long will God put up with it? I personally do not see the US being the US much longer...I think we will be wiped out eventually...how long does an Empire usually last?? Hmm...not long, especially when God is thrown out.

So you think the Catholic Church in France at the time was a force for good? So out went the Catholic Church and in came in the demons?

N.J. police chief carries banner, helps lead march in peaceful protest of George Floyd killing

When she learned about George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis, Yolanda Deaver wanted to be there to protest.

The New Jersey business owner and mom had second thoughts when she saw TV images of rioters looting and setting fires. She had to consider her own safety and wanted to make sure she could get home to her children.

Video of now-fired Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin with his knee on Floyd’s neck as the restrained man died on the street May 25 has drawn condemnation and outrage. Chauvin, 44, was charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

“I was talking to my family about how I wanted to go to Minneapolis and protest and do something,” Deaver said. “What happened to George Floyd was very unfortunate and I felt I needed to do something about it.”

She decided to organize a march in Camden, where she grew up and has owned a business for more that five years. Deaver posted about her plans on social media and one of her followers, a Camden police officer, asked if she could join.

“She wanted to march with me because she felt the same way,” Deaver said. Soon after, she heard from the police chief, who also asked to participate. From there, the event held Saturday in Camden blossomed into a peaceful protest in which residents and police walked side-by-side, carry signs and calling for change.

Camden Police Chief Joseph Wysocki helped lead the way, carrying a banner proclaiming “Standing in Solidarity,” while a police captain led a Camden Strong chant at one point.

Others carried signs proclaiming Black Lives Matter and demanding justice for Floyd. Cries of “No justice no peace” and “Black Lives Matter” filled the air.

U.S. Rep. Donald Norcross and Camden Mayor Frank Moran also joined the walk.

“It just turned into something bigger than what I expected,” Deaver said. “I couldn’t believe it. We walked in peace. I was so moved.”
