Despite these early problems that they encountered, they still grew and grew and grew. In fact, one could say that due to their dedication and determination we are here today, doing what we are doing and being what we are being. Like every start-up, the end is usually different from the beginning which is sad in reality as the fire has gone out of the church in many areas of society. We are more into form and religion rather than relationship and renewal. But I guess God has it all in hand and he is going to achieve what he wants to achieve at the time of his choosing. For myself, I wish that if I am here at the end time that I will be in the thick of it all and putting the royal boot into Satan in a big way.
I digress.
If we care to study the subject we see that the NTC was there to bring life and healing to the people they ministered to. Medical help was very basic in those days and for some of the illnesses and physical problems, there was no known cure. If you had it you were stuck with it for the rest of your life. Along came the NTC that and suddenly, it was no longer the case. The laying on of hands, the prayer of faith, and medical problems no longer existed. The disciples became the new doctors of society, not through any knowledge or skills they had but through the power of the risen Christ.
I have no doubt that like today, not everyone got healed but we know that a lot did get healed that had no hope of healing through prayer and faith. I know from my own experience that when you pray in faith and someone is made whole it is very exciting to see God's healing power at work. You might say success breeds success and I am quite sure in those days, healing by the power of God made the disciples hungry for more and more healing.
They were the people that became the ambassadors for Christ so it was logical that what they had seen him do they would do as well. They represented him in all matters of the kingdom and as his kingdom included healing, it was only (super)natural that they should do the same. To not do the same meant that they were failing in their representation of him. How could they say we represent the Kingdom of God but we don't do miracles of healing? Not logical.
So that begs the question "Do we represent the kingdom of God" and if we do why not the healings?
