Luke 21:32-36 (KJV)
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Im a bit confounded. With all thats to take place before the Day of the Lord how can you not see it coming? Am i reading this wrong? Just what is a "snare"? Not lookin to argue. Lookin for answers

As I see it, Luke 21 in context relates to tribulation saints after the church has gone.

We are living in an age where people simpy want to be satisfied with what satisfies them. The faith is waning in the countries where it had a stron hold and even in the hot mission fields, they are being overrun with Pentecostal works salvation and JW's. So the times of the end will take the world by surprise as Paul said (peace and safety then destruction comes) And also that because people reject the truth, God will send a lie they will believe!.

Cant be Farouk. The church isnt going anywhere till Christ returns

DANIEL 7 [27] And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of THE KINGDOM UNDER THE WHOLE HEAVEN, SHALL BE GIVEN TO THE PEOPLE OF THE SAINTS OF THE MOST HIGH, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

The kingdom given to the Saints

1 CORINTHIANS 1 [2] Unto the CHURCH OF GOD WHICH IS AT CORINTH, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, CALLED TO BE SAINTS, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

Church of the Corinthians that are called to be Saints

ROMANS 1 [7] To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, CALLED TO BE SAINTS: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Church of the Romans that are called to be Saints

EPHESIANS 1 [1] Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, TO THE SAINTS WHICH ARE AT EPHESUS, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

And again, the Ephesians are the Saints of God

COLOSSIANS 1 [1] Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother, [2] TO THE SAINTS and faithful brethren in Christ WHICH ARE AT COLOSSE: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The church of Colossians are the Saints

REVELATION 14 [11] And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. [12] HERE IS THE PATIENCE OF THE SAINTS: HERE ARE THEY THAT KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, AND THE FAITH OF JESUS.

REVELATION 13 [3] And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. [4] And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, WHO IS LIKE UNTO THE BEAST? WHO IS ABLE TO MAKE WAR WITH HIM? [5] And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. [6] And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. [7] And IT WAS GIVEN UNTO HIM TO MAKE WAR WITH THE SAINTS, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

Here we find the beast making war against Gods Saints. If you believe the above scriptures that say the Saints belong to the various churches you gotta know they have not been raptured as the Rapturist claim.

When you read what Apostle Peter said in 2 Peter 3:10-11 that is to happen on that "day of the Lord", then one should easily realize by that, that the things of this present world are over, done. We then all go into the future heaven on earth stage.

Let me try to explain this literally. On the day of Christ's coming in the clouds, on that "day of the Lord", on the "last trump" which Apostle Paul taught, everyone still alive on earth will be changed at an instant, at the twinkling of an eye. What kind of change? Paul taught that it will a change to the "spiritual body" he taught in 1 Corinthians 15. In other words, the heavenly dimension is going to be revealed right here, on earth, with mankind casting off their flesh to reveal their spirit body with soul in that dimension, like how the angels appeared on earth per Scripture.

Many brethren have a difficult time understanding this, because they are so wrapped up in their flesh (excuse the pun). They cannot imagine how they can exist without a flesh body. But God's Word shows us that our spirit with soul can... be separated from our flesh. Ecclesiastes 12:5-7 was one of the first places in The Bible that made this plain. The New Testament defined it more.

It will be at that very instant, at the twinkling of an eye, on the "day of the Lord", the final day of this present world, that will totally surprise the wicked and deceived. Just as those who believe our real person involves our flesh, even with deceived brethren who look for a new flesh body in the resurrection, will be completely surprised when they find theirselves standing on earth in their spiritual body with soul, and their flesh gone.

God in the Book of Isaiah describes that event several ways. In one example, He says for the wicked it will be like one starving and seeing a great feast of food laid out to eat, and then immediately waking up out of the dream to discover they are still starving. In another place in Isaiah, God describes that day like taking a bottle and turning it upside down, with its liquid contents making a gurgling sound as it empties. In Zechariah, God describes the flesh of men burning while they stand, their eyeballs melting, their tongues melting, etc. That is how He said He will smite those who fought against Jerusalem, pointing to the destruction in Ezekiel 39 of the armies out of the northern quarters that come upon Israel on the last day of this world.

From Isaiah, those descriptions are where Apostle Paul was pulling from in 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3 when speaking of the "sudden destruction" upon those at the end who will be saying, "Peace and safety". Those deceived will be shocked, suddenly, by that change on that day, ushering all into the world to come.

This is why we as servants of our Lord Jesus Christ are not to get bogged down with the things of this present world, and we are never to forget the temporal nature of this present world, and instead have our hearts and minds prepared for the coming world when our Lord Jesus will come to subdue all His enemies and reign over them with His elect.

Thats what bothers me. How will that day take the world by suprise? The trib period which comes before the Day of the Lord should get people to thinking and lookin into whats written. Not to mention whats being said by the churches and the people who have studied the Word.

I do see a distinction between Israel and the church, anyway. No church in the OT.

Hello, brother...great topic! Unfortunately, there are many scriptures that speak of The Day of The Lord and when that will be and they all mention different events. That's why there are so many different beliefs on when this takes place.
The main thing is to ALWAYS be ready no matter what...also to consider prophesies that haven't been fulfilled yet.
And let's not forget the great Awakening and outpouring of the Holy Spirit before that happens. We are beginning to see this in some areas of the world already....especially areas that have been oppressed and forbidden to convert to Christianity.
I try to do as Jesus said...don't worry about tomorrow....let today's concerns be sufficient...always trusting Him to lead you in His Truth.
The Holy Spirit told me to keep my eyes on Israel....as things continue to happen there it fulfills another prophesy. The recent peace agreement opens up the opportunity for Israel to regain possession of the Temple Mount that is currently in the control of the Muslim nations.
Old Testament and New Testament has to be considered together. What is happening with the Jews along with what is happening with the Gentiles simultaneously. It all fits together. IMHO.

It will be the great and terrible Day of the Lord's vengeance and wrath, that will come as a thief. The Sixth Seal event, the one Paul refers to in 1 Thessalonians 5:3
As you say; the GT that will happen during the final 3 1/2 years, will commence with the Anti-Christ declaring himself to be God in the Temple. Then Jesus will Return 1260 days later, so neither will come unexpectedly to anyone with a Bible.

I believe that this forthcoming Day, when the Lord will destroy His enemies, Isaiah 66:15-17, will be triggered by the prepared and long expected attack upon Israel by the confederation of Islamic nations and entities. As Psalms 83 and Micah 4:11-12 tell us.
Judging by the current situation in Iran and all the Middle East, that Day is imminent!

Well after lookin into it i came to the conclusion {many years ago} itll happen between 2027 and 2034. Somewhere in there. Not settin dates. I Looked into it a few years back but did not spend the time i should have on it.

If I may, I would suggest to you that you may want to add a further 10-15 years to your calculations as to when the present age will end and the millennium age will begin. My calculation is based on my understanding of Matt 24:32 and the timeframe it suggests within the limitation of when the "seasons" occur and their flexible durations.

The glorious Return of Jesus for His Millennium reign, will happen about then.
But much must take place before then and it will all commence with the Day of the Lord's fiery wrath, His punishment of the nations.
About 10- 15 years is needed between this forthcoming reset of our civilization and the Return.

If you go to Revelation and do a search for 'those who dwell upon the earth', or the phrases very much like it, you'll see that every time its used its in conjunction with the unbelievers world-wide, those who are, or about to, experience God's wrath.
Therefore, I'd say in this particular context, we'd look at it and read that 'that day' will come upon the unbelievers like a snare, but for those of us who believe, and who are diligently watching for our Lord and Masters return day by day, it will not come as a snare.

As for the 'snare' bit, and how we'd not see it coming if we were specifically watching...just look at the day we're living in as an example. Global pandemic, natural disasters happening in varying countries. Political unrest like we've not seen in generations. Persecution of the brothers in numbers greater than we've ever seen. And an Arab country just made a peace treaty with Israel. And still, amongst the craziness, people do what they gotta do. We go get our groceries, pay our bills, water our gardens, walk the dogs. Sometimes we're so intent on social media that we don't even care what's happening in our own towns.
So...with all that crazy stuff happening, which could be right out of Matt 24...if we, as Christians, were not deliberately looking up every day, watching, waiting, longing...do you think we'd be surprised too if the sky suddenly cracked open and Jesus appeared? Probably.

That's my thought.

[14] IF A MAN DIE, SHALL HE LIVE AGAIN? all the days of my appointed time will I WAIT, TILL MY CHANGE COME.

I've already pondered on that. I have progressed to the New Testament...

1 Cor 15:48-51
48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
KJV

Well the Trib period is the Day of the Lord! The term day of the Lord is used often in the OY to describe the Trib period and also in Rev. 6:
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

The opening of teh sixth seal commences what we call teh great tribulation, or the seven year period from Daniel 9.
