@Naomi25 Anyway @GodsGrace was likely right in her observation that nowadays getting inked up is what so many of even those of a very conservative disposition expect to have done, don't you think?
I think that might be overstating it. "Expect to have done". No. I think more are considering it, even choosing it. It's not considered 'bad' like it once was. But I think probably a more in depth polling would need to be done before anything definitive could be said one way or another. And truly, I am in the wrong part of the world to be able to comment, based on the 'pool of observation' of what I see!

@Naomi25 A thoughtful, reasonable comment.

As regards polling, yes, more in depth info would be good. I tried to supply a lot of possible poll answer options, above. (Thanks for your vote.)

People's areas and social circles are all different, I guess; in @FHII 's, he reports:

Probably 75% of the congregation have tattoos, including myself and the Pastor

(This would kind of heighten the potential for conversation-friendly faith designs, I reckon.)

Maybe your area/social circle is a bit different, though?

Lol! Oh goodness yes...not a single person in our congregation has a tattoo! Of course, we're a very small, rural church, and most members are above 60. And Baptist...did I mention Baptist?

@Naomi25

Well, yes, I suppose it's what ppl are accustomed to in their area, really, right?

This brief video is about professing Christians who seem comfortable to have it done, especially in faith based designs:

In some areas, as the short video shows, young men are encouraged to have it done by their moms; and there is a young woman who wants something stirring tattooed that is quoted from Romans 8.

It's certainly not for everyone. (Though in some areas it seems like nearly everyone does it.)

So really it seems the case that in some areas Christian young ppl right from the age when they can first do it have learned to do it confidently, I suppose, right?

Yes, my girls love the ink -:)
@soul man

As shnarkle and GodsGrace said earlier, such is the seeming, deeply established expectation to become at least a little inked up:

shnarkle said:
One of the churches I go to has three quite elderly women, all widows, who recently went out and got themselves tattoos.

GodsGrace said:
almost every young girl I know has some sort of tatoo.
Even those very conservative types

it truly is what even the most conservative do now. (Hard to deny, right?)

Yes true, seems everyone is doing it
@soul man You're right! And when Christians do it now - and so many do - it's often an opportunity to be ready to give a reason for their hope, right?

Reminds me of this verse:

1 Peter 3.15: "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear"
