I meet one from Poland that everyday he grabbed his saints pictures, and rose beads whatever and went into a long thing with each picture. He called it prayer. Then He did thing you see in Hollywood before they cast out a devil. (Normally only Catholic priest get to play those parts in Hollywood)
We did talk scriptures, but he was very convinced that the Catholic Church was the authority over all, even the Bible. Everything else was not God, not the Church.

Then talk to your run of the mill Catholic here in the States, and If you did not know what church they went to, you could not tell they were even Catholic.

There is a difference depending on where your at, and who you do talk to................... That is WHY that papal whatever is misunderstood.......... Just like sinners today misunderstand everything else......... They go to one church and it's a low serious tone of Amen, go to another church and they are crawling on the floor shouting Jesus!!!

There are no diffrent types of Catholic. All Catholics are one. A person who does not follow the teachings of the Catholic Church is not a Catholic and can be excommunicated by a Bishop or even the Vatican. There was a Catholic priest in Massachusetts who preached something that is against the teachings of the Church. He was told the correct teachings and to recant what he said. He refused and was excommunicated by the Bishop. When a person is excommunicated, he/she is no longer recognized as Catholic. Also, a Catholic priest will not play any part in Hollywood casting out devils. Those are only actors acting the part of a Catholic priest.

Templar is an Anglican. The Anglicans broke away from the Catholic Church many years ago and now seek to reunite with us. When they broke away from the Catholic Church, they did not recognize the Pope; however, they have always kept the apostolic succession as we do.

As for authority, we don't follow Sola Sciptura. All Catholics are taught to worship ONLY God. We are taught to follow and obey Him. He is our FIRST obedience. Catholics also follow the teachings of the Church because Christ is the "Head of the Church." As for the Bible, we view the Bible as the "Word of God" which must also be followed.

I heard that the Pope has a special chair which when he sits in it everything he say's comes directly from God and cannot be questioned. That is what I have udnerstood Papal infalability to mean. I don't know if this wa exxaggereated or not , but when I was talking to a Roman Catholic friend about it his words were, "the Pope could say black is white and we'd have to agree."

I think I'll just stay in the "mercy seat". There I have no need for a pope or papal authority.

Infallibility deals only with the doctrines of faith and moral teachings. If the Pope says that black is white, it would only make him a liar, and as I said in my previous post, the Pope is a sinner like all of us. He is not perfect. So, if the Pope says that black is white, we can disagree. Pope John Paul II stated that instead of colored veils, women should wear only white veils. Well, I still wear colored veils to Mass. Wearing a colored or white veil has nothing to do with doctrines of faith or moral teachings. It is the doctrines of faith and moral teachings that Catholics must adhere to. So, for example, when the Pope declared that abortion is a great evil, this is moral teaching that all Catholics should agree with. A Catholic who disagrees with this moral teaching is only putting himself/herself outside the Church.

Infallibility also belongs to the body of bishops as a whole, when, in doctrinal unity with the pope, they solemnly teach a doctrine as true. We have this from Jesus Himself, who promised the apostles and their successors the bishops, the magisterium of the Church: "He who hears you hears me" (Luke 10:16), and "Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven" (Matt. 18:18).

Christ instructed the Church to preach everything He taught (Matt. 28:19–20) and promised the protection of the Holy Spirit to "guide you into all the truth" (John 16:13). That mandate and that promise guarantee the Church will never fall away from His teachings (Matt. 16:18, 1 Tim. 3:15), even if individual Catholics might. Since Christ said the gates of hell would not prevail against His Church (Matt. 16:18b), this means that His Church can never pass out of existence. But if the Church ever apostasized by teaching heresy, then it would cease to exist. Thus the Church cannot teach heresy, meaning that anything it solemnly defines for the faithful to believe is true. This same reality is reflected in the Apostle Paul’s statement that the Church is "the pillar and foundation of the truth" (1 Tim. 3:15). If the Church is the foundation of religious truth in this world, then it is God’s own spokesman. As Christ told his disciples: "He who hears you hears me, and he who rejects you rejects me, and he who rejects me rejects Him who sent me" (Luke 10:16).

He seems more like a front man, than anyone that is useful for anything......... Doing a internet search for one good lessen he taught, I just run into pages of him covering up the molestation of Children. Not that the media does not get carried away, but the best I found is the Pope washing feet.............

So what is the real role of the Pope.

John Paul II was a good Pope, He was well respected and liked by Christians of all denominations but Benedict IVI seems to be a disastter. He's tring to undo so much of the good progress that was made in vatican II and his ecumenical policies are atrocious. Thoug not a Papist I respect Popes as spiritual leaders and teachers but I think this one should abdicate before he does any more damage to the Church.

Well, this Pope don't seem all that bad. He smiles and seems like a nice guy. I just wanted to hear something he preached on or taught. Selene is under the impression that the Pope is special or something, so I wanted to check it out more.

Being the Pope and giving light and direction there should be a web site with his best sermons or something. If you have a link I would like to check it out. Most serious churches have links to their teaching.

The Catholic church has the Caechism which you can read if you want to see it's teaching. As for the Pope's sermons, homillies acutually, yes it would be good to be able to hear some of them. The Bishop of Rome (Episcopus Romanum) or Pope is a high and holy ofice because it claims to be the temporal elader of all Christians. That is to say that heretics and schismatics come outside of this according to Joseph Razinger. He said that only Roman Catholics could really call themselves Christians and that the only Chruch as he see's it is the Church of Rome and all otehrs are "Ecclisial Communities." Their Sacraments and their oedering of Priests and Ministers is invalid according to this Pope, That is why I think he should abdicate post-haste because he is doing some serious damage to the Church. Like I said the office of Pope is very special but this man is terrible.

I was thinking of converting at one time but the prsent Pope seriously put me off.

The current Pope also has homilies, which are published in a Catholic website. You ask what is the role of the Pope. His role is to continue the role and work of the Apostle Peter. Pope John Paul II was the first pope to travel to more countries than any other popes. Because of him, Catholicsm is now growing in Asia and Africa. As a matter of fact, there is a seminary in Japan. As you know, the majority of Japanese people believe in Buddhism and Shintoism. However, there is a small number of Catholic Christians in Japan and in time, this numbers will grow. In my island, there is now a Korean Catholic Church, and Mass is said in the Korean language because the people there are Koreans and don't know English.

No, the Pope doesn't have a website of his own where he puts all his homilies.

All the homilies of the Pope would be found under the website of the Roman Catholic Church. Popes feel that they are not special to have their own websites. As Pope Benedict XVI had to constantly remind himself before he addressed the crowd, "It is not about himself. It is about Christ, who is the Head of the Church."

Paul could have been a widower. For several reasons, it is a weak argument to point out Paul was single.

Paul expresses the thought that it is good not to get married because of the great amount of persecution Christians were facing. But, unless you fear the Jews will rile the Romans to make your children orphans, Paul's concern does not apply to you. In spite of Paul's thoughts on being single, he still instructs young men and women to get married. The third strike to single preachers and priests is that Paul's thoughts on being being single does not trump his instructions that preachers should have a wife.

On this issue, the Catholic church is corrupt. This is partly why the church has had so much trouble with homosexuals molesting boys. But, protestant churches are often corrupt on this issue as well. At least the Catholic church does not allow divorced and female bishops. (Some protestants have embraced homosexual leaders, at which point one can only conclude they are no longer part of God's church).

catholicism is just a Christian theme placed over the pagan religions of Europe. the pagan gods and godesses were replaced with the pope and the saints. the pope carries idols all over his very clothing and his chair. there is an obelisk in the middle of the vatican square. an obelisk is an idol of a phallus. it is also false to worship Mary and equate her or worse elevate her above Jesus. all you have to do is read Matthew 13:55-56 and know that Mary was not a perpetual virgin for she had sons and daughters. also when Jesus turned the water into wine Jesus rebuked her, if she was equal or above Him then why would she need be rebuked? also she is rebuked in Luke 2:48-50.

catholics need only to repent and go by what the Word of God says
read revelation 2:12-17 about the church at Pergamos and then read revelation 2:18-29 about the church at Thyatira.

If it weren't so sad and serious, it would almost be hilarious how so many have pointed the finger at Catholocism, and not seen the own blindness in Christendom. And now, with the heresy being so rampant, they are virtual bedfellows spiritually. That's why so many, ignorantly or well informed, are now lumping Catholics in the same boat as Christians. Typically, rightly so.

And yes, I'll get flak over this one, but the facts are only ignored by the stubborn of heart or the insistently ignorant.

I have no doubt that the Roman Church has as many elect within its walls, as does the others. The weakness and shallowness of one's faith is not the measure of redemption.

By definition, 'blasphemy' means the treatment of God/Christ in an irreverent or impious manner.

Roman Catholics have informed me, and they refuse to renounce the following Roman Catholic belief:

. . . all the means of salvation subsists in the Catholic Church alone. . .

. . . all men are saved through the Catholic Church . . .

I will defend the Bride of Christ which is the Catholic Church.

So, YES, the Roman Catholics have elevated their church to the level of the deity, Christ. Such belief certainly classifies as 'blasphemy'.
