I just shrug it off and I don't let that kind of political rhetoric get to me anymore. The more someone acts like that toward me, the more I dismiss what they say to me or about me or about anyone else they don't like because that person has different political views than their own. The way I see it, I'm a Christian first and foremost and I don't have a valid excuse to treat my fellow man with contempt. I treat others the way I want to be treated. I don't consider Republicans to be my enemies. I don't consider Democrats to be my enemies. We're all made in the likeness of God and we'll be held accountable to God for how we treat people. We have a responsibility as Christians to be a representative of our Lord and Savior.

McConnell, when asked whether it was a problem that Trump did not directly rebuke white supremacy, said he agreed with the remarks made by Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), the only Black Republican in the Senate, calling on Trump to “correct” his statement.
“With regard to the white supremacy issue, I want to associate myself with the remarks of Sen. Tim Scott,” McConnell told reporters. “I think he said it exactly correctly and that’s exactly how I would express myself on that issue."
