I am throwing this out here, I am interested in what Christians have to answer when this question is asked.

The “problem of pain,” as the well-known Christian scholar, C.S. Lewis, once called it, is atheism’s most potent weapon against the Christian faith.

As long as we live in this fallen world, people with free will, born into sin....make choices. Those choices have ripple effect and affect a lot of people. But God promises to work all things for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Many are suffering ....what can we do to lighten someone's load, bring some joy, share the love of God?

All I can say is....consider Job....

@Triumph1300 my response is similar to @TLHKAJ 's response.....It is all a part of God's plan. He allows evil in this world to continue until his Son returns again. Evil is allowed to triumph over innocence in this current 'fallen' world.

I do not understand what type or how 'pain' (suffering?) is the most potent weapon of the atheist, against God-fearing people?? Need to add a context and a meaning to it..

Why does God allow innocent people to suffer? OP ^

A question about God, would require a Truthful response.
There are no innocent people.

That, would be an appropriate to an Atheist.

To a believer, allowance? WHO doesn't want that...oh sure, everyone wants the $$ kind of allowance, but what about the experience of Life?
Likenesses are Comforting /
Oppositions are Uncomfortable.

Suffering, sadness, pain, failing, losing, etc.
Can all be summed up, as disappointing and stir Emotions. And All allowed ... By God.

The Converted man has a Comforting Solution in Christ the Lord. The experience of The Lords comfort through a trying time is something an atheist will never experience or understand.

Glory to God,

I have had this question thrown at me a few times.
Two years ago a rock rolled down a mountain, flew through my windshield and killed my wife instantly next to me in the car.
A few of you might remember the accident.
I never blamed God, I just saw it as an accident.
Instantly she was with Jesus.
We were one month short of being married 50 years.
(I met a Christian lady and I am married again).

Brother ...thank you for sharing. It's unimaginable to even comprehend the pain of such a loss unless you've experienced it. Thank you for sharing how God has kept you through tragedy.

It's hard when a loved one is taken ...especially a spouse or child ...a sibling. My youngest son was taken Home 9 months ago at age 17. But our lives have been full of suffering ...I can say I'm grateful that God drew my son closer to Him through his ordeal, and my son was a testament to God's goodness. I'm grateful my son isn't here suffering and ran his race well. But I miss him terribly. Suffering is something I and my family have been well acquainted with. It does serve to cause our eyes to look up ....and not desire this world as our home.

That is what stops my son from committing to Jesus, 'If God is supposed to be loving why does he let people suffer?'
I have told him to listen to Ravi Zaccarius on the subject.

@Pearl Paul says also in Philippians 3.10: "That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death".

@TLHKAJ Your post was evidently written with feeling, indeed; and Hebrews 12.2 does provide a key, as you imply: "Looking unto Jesus".
