The following Zechariah verse was of interest to me because of President Obama, who is of mixed heritage and....it is about the end of days.
A Biblical "bastard" is not a child born of an unwed mother but the Strong's Concordance describes the word as.....Mamzer ~ born of a Jewish father and a heathen mother. There the word "Jew" encompasses all twelve tribes of which ten are the house of Israel. They, of course, are not Jewish at all but are Israelite.
As the above Zechariah passage is about the end times and may well be a prophecy that concerns our President I thought I would look a bit closer. The word "dwell" is interesting. E.W. Bullinger states that as used there...."dwell is to sit, as a king." Well, Obama is certainly sitting as our elected king/President and he is of mixed lineage. What of "Ashdod?" Ashdod means....stronghold. America is the strongest of the strongholds. So, is this prophecy about him? I dunno....we'll see. :unsure:
But, I wanted to look deeper because of the following verse.....
I just couldn't understand that. Why? It is evident from scripture that the mixing of races is something He forbid in various statutes and yet...a child born of this union had nothing to do with it. His salvation is open to all, He wants all to come to repentance so why would He not allow a precious soul that loved Him to "enter into the congregation of the LORD?"
Then I saw the following and my question was answered. The biblical translators made a mistake.....
The Zechariah verse HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH A CHILD BORN OF MIXED LINEAGE unless....part of that lineage is that of a tare...a bastard wheat....a son of Cain/Kenite.
So, [Deuteronmy 23:2] is saying... anyone with Kenite blood, a bastard wheat, will not enter the Lord's congregation. As far as President Obama? As I said....we'll see. :mellow:
Zechariah 9:6 And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.

Sowed tares also (epespeiren ta zizania). Literally "sowed upon," "resowed" (Moffatt). The enemy deliberately sowed "the darnel" (zizania is not "tares," but "darnel," a bastard wheat)

The word ζιζανια, zizania, which is here translated tares, and which should rather be translated bastard or degenerate wheat, is a Chaldee word; and its meaning must be sought in the rabbinical writers. In a treatise in the Mishna called Kelayim, which treats expressly on different kinds of seeds, the word זונים zunim, or זונין zunin, is used for bastard or degenerated wheat;
