@Naomi25 Oh she did it! :) So were you at first a bit shocked?
Ah...that would be a no! She's wanted to do it for ages. Her father said "No! Wait til your 18 or have moved out!" So, she did. It didn't really bother me too much, so she often talked to me about it, and when she decided to take the plunge, she begged me to with her to hold her hand....chicken!
She was determined though, and is very pleased with it.

@Naomi25 So you went with her to support her and hold her hand? sounds like mom was satisfied with her determination and her being very pleased with it...:)

I don't know 'satisfied' is the right word. I think it's more....she's struggled with anxiety all her life, which has meant a lot of things have been closed off to her. She just hasn't been 'brave enough' to step up to them. So...when I can see she really wants something and just needs a tiny bit of...nudge...I try to be there for her, no matter what it is. I think, probably, when it came to the piercing, most of her nerves came from having to speak to the guy who did it, rather than from the pain! But for me, didn't change my focus.
So yes, I'm glad she's pleased with herself, and she feels she accomplished something. It helps her a lot.

@Naomi25 In summary, so I guess you certainly didn't try to dissuade her, and were even quietly glad to give her what you call a little nudge to help her on her way to achieve the desired nose stud.

Ezekiel 16.12 comes to mind, in a passage seemingly about figurative representations of imputed righteousness.

@Taken From back, you could probably find episodes of 'Inked' on Youtube.

Did you see/vote in the poll, above?

Saw the poll.
I am not a fan of Skin Ink. A personal choice in my opinion. What others elect to do to their Body's does not effect me.

Thanks for your poll participation.

As the OP relates, there are many views about this very widespread artform, including among Christians.

I have no problems with others choices to get a tattoo....I really like some of them. .. it is becoming a norm with health professionals.

Personally I don’t like tattoos. I have one. I got it before I was called to believe.

I have never regretted my tattoo.. I love the tattoo..the tattoo was not liberating - the tattoo represented the liberation and freedom that the Lord had brought me through..The tattoo in of itself was merely the means of expression and the reminder.

I got my first and only tattoo when I was 25. I was told it was addictive, but for me it was not. .. I don't regret it.. Probably 75% of the congregation have tattoos, including myself and the Pastor

Maybe you identify with some, though not all, of these quotes. It used to be very much a man thing, but now also it's become regarded as a very womanly thing.

I think it looks great on her and I have no worries about it from a spiritual point of view.
@Paul Christensen In any case it's what so many young Christian women seem to do now.

FYI:

Around here (Bible Belt), it is common, especially among evangelical Christians, for the girls under about 40 to have religious tattoos. More do than don't, especially when you get to the under 30 crowd. I hardly know any female at church that is under 30 that does not have a tattoo.

Whereas it used to be such a man thing, years ago.

I see both men and women, boys and girls with tats. Don't typically have but a fleeting notice, much like a notice of an others hair style, clothing, behaviors...notice then don't dwell on it.
A womanly thing? Have to say, the most in your face, gross tats I've seen were on older females, scantly dressed blubber specimens with random tats. No cohesive art form flow. Not what I see and think how womanly. lol
Just my opinion of a freakish display.

@Taken Okay, I note your point...it's hard to deny that many Christian women as well as men seem to want to have it done. My wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also; and I'm sure other conversations have arisen as a result of her willingness to have it done.
