In this day and age, people have turned traditional Christian church hymns into new age Christian rock music. But I say Jesus is traditional and I will remain an orthodox Christian leader.

Jesus doesn't fall for being "COOL" people! And you shouldn't either.

Sadly there are many people that need a cool, well esteemed Jesus among the people. A Jesus that is well accepted in this modern world.

What do you think?

Jesus doesn't change but I think maybe the church's perception of him may do. He is Master, Lord, Saviour, King of kings as well as friend.

Here's a rendition of the cool Jesus: When Jesus attended a party, and all the alcohol ran out at that party, Jesus is the guy who goes out on that infamous 'beer run' so that the partiers can continue to imbibe. Furthermore, if there were prostitutes in the neighborhood, Jesus would invite them to the party. (Note: I do not support visiting prostitutes or alcoholism. I do support having fun and accepting people who others reject.)

That doesn't appear "cool" when you look at it. Jesus forgave the prostitute, who might have been under circumstances your not aware of. Also wine was the traditional drink for the celebrations whom also Melchizedek drank. It was for their pain medicine purposes. A mild pain reliever for their infirmities cause, yeah, they didn't have medicine back then.

When I think of "cool" Jesus I see Jesus being paraded with a dress shirt unbuttoned to the chest with gold necklace, dancing kinda cool like.

Hebrews 12:28

"Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe"

I disagree a bit. Cultures change, I'm not talking about the world system here, and the Church is part of that Culture. So yes times change and the concept of Christ changes and we should not put Him in a box because we think Christ should be a certain way only. Christ meets people where they are and sometimes that means cool Jesus. The more Traditional among us may not like this but that has been the problem, we turn people away because we assume it can only be Traditional but that's not true.

In Acts when the Holy Spirit came He didn't confine Himself to one way but every person understood in their own way, and if there was a beach bum there that day he would have understood in beach bum language. When Christ appeared in the Upper room He didn't demand that St. Thomas do things a certain way, He went to him and met him where he was.

So I believe Christ is more flexible than even Christians are

I believe something similar. But in my belief Christ meets the sinner and remains Christ to lead them towards his way. I think of Christ as an advanced being with a super high IQ. So when I look at people with high IQ's I might think they might be more like him. But of course not always.

David danced naked in front of the Lord.
And his girlfriend/wife got jealous.

So I'm 55. I grew up in the city. Somewhere between the Beetles and Madona.
My Dad was all Hank Willims and Johnny Cash, my Mom was Liberace and Burl Ives.
My Daughter grew up from Madona to .. I have no idea what's out there today..
I don't like rap no matter how you dress it. I enjoy symphony but I don't like opera.
Some of the new songs today have a way of reaching the younger people,
the way the older songs can't.
If I put on Randy Travis my Daughter would just mmm nope..
And if she did some heavy metal.. I be like ummm nope.
So maybe we don't relate to the younger generation..
but there is a youth generation that have faith and they reach out sometimes the only way they can,
through music.

Music is the universal language. It talks to everyone. Just some don't like the tone or the melody.
But it touches somebody, somewhere..

When I was little I remember Dad playing Jesus loves me on a 45.
Maybe that was the seed that was planted from the beginning.
I don't know, I just know I can still hear it.. :)

Hugs :)

I don't know,.. I think a lot of miracles that Jesus did were pretty cool.
Having super powers would be addictive if your human, look at the leadership of the super powers here on the earth, power struggles for that power.

But Jesus performed miracles out of charity and love ;)

I rather heal the blind and the deaf. :)

I had a dream a long time ago. I was on a bus. There were a lot of old sick people on that bus.
I walked up and down the aisle telling them Jesus can heal you if you just believe.
And they just got up and walked off the bus.

Not quite sure what that meant...

But they looked a lot healthier.. :)

The definition of cool is slightly chilly, but not cold, or a slang term for popular or in style.

David danced naked in front of the Lord.
Ummm, no.

1Ch 15:27 And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had upon him an ephod of linen.

2Sa 6:14 And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.

In other words, dressed like a common priest (2 Sa 6:14), rather than a King, and so took off the royal apparel (2 Sa. 6:20) - not all his clothes.

So Jesus neither sought popularity or to be in style, so he didn't seek to be cool is the point I'm making. And to turn him into something cool might just backfire?

David danced naked in front of the Lord.
And his girlfriend/wife got jealous.

I’d never read the passage about David dancing naked in front of the Lord. Can you help me out because how do know it was naked? Where does it say he danced naked because I couldn’t find it? Have I missed it?
2 Samuel 6:14-16 And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. [15] So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet. [16] And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord ; and she despised him in her heart.

Since I couldn’t find it...turned to goggle and this was regarding the David danced naked before the Lord “Answer: In one of the most effusive displays of worship recorded in the Bible, King David danced “before the Lord with all his might” (2 Samuel 6:14). The occasion was the return of the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. It was a day of rejoicing as David “and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets” (verse 15). David had set aside his royal robes and was “wearing a linen ephod” (verse 14)—a clear indication that he was not naked.

The ephod David wore was a garment usually reserved for priests and those ministering before the Lord. As David led the procession of the ark into the city, he humbly laid aside his royal garments and worshiped the Lord, in ecstatic joy, as the representative of God’s “kingdom of priests” (Exodus 19:6). “

couldn’t find David laid (or put)aside his royal garment and worshiped the Lord...can you show me where it says this is what David did? It matters because “In one of the most effusive displays of worship recorded in the Bible, King David danced “before the Lord with all his might”...reminds me of another John 13:3-6 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; [4] He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. [5] After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. [6] Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

if Jesus washed their feet with the towel wherewith he was girded in...was he naked?
