And that's exactly what you're doing. John 3:16 says that those that believe in Jesus Christ shall be saved. It doesn't say that they lose that salvation if they commit suicide.
You believe in OSAS?

That doesn't have anything to do with it! If they know Christ at the time but they are still suffering and depressed enough to end their lives they're still saved!! OSAS is no relevance to that statement!!!

Some new age reincarnation thing on the internet(Facebook).

I am sorry about your sister in law...Was your sister in law a Christian?

I would say beliefs on suicide and Hell is not good for the moment a person is very depressed. I was a Christian and depressed. I thought playing drums were evil. I wouldn't have taken that well at sixteen/twenty one...

I would focus on how God loves them, question them on their salvation, and if they are saved, to remind them of their purpose for living. Read scriptures on healing and God's love.

Theology is the last thing on someone's mind who is hurting. If they want to hurt themselves and think themselves as worthless, Hell might actually be welcome in their mind.

I would never tell someone suicidal that they will end up in heaven. They are under the influence of the devil in that state of mind. They need satan rebuked from them.

She was not a Christian.

My brother was...kinda.

This is how I was able to talk him out of following her.

We grew up in the Catholic religion and they taught us "if we kill ourselves we are doomed"...we quit the RCC as young teens.

When I was 16 and religionless, drunk, depressed and had my shotgun to my head, it suddenly spoke loud and clear to me.

I thank God someone eventually taught me to overcome my depressing moments with giving my stuff to God, instead of a shotgun.

I am not sure this is the right answer for someone suicidal either. If I was suicidal, Heaven might also be a welcome thought in my mind. Id just be there to support and pray for them.

Conversations like right now, are when the theology should be talked about. I personally believe if someone walks away from Christ, they can lose their salvation. I think only God knows where a person is when they commit suicide. People do not go to Hell for the penalty of sin. This was already paid for. People go to Hell for rejecting the payment for their sins.

I think our goal is to get to heaven in God's appointed time, and not try to speed it up.

If I could go to heaven via committing suicide, I would have done it decades ago in a rough patch of my walk with God.

But, I am told that we are to walk in the Spirit, not the spirit of suicide.

I'm not sure if the devil is responsible for all suicide, but I can tell you from experience that he can draw a person into those feelings. Thankfully Gods spirit is all of this: Galatians 5:22-25

As a spinoff thread to my LGBTQ thread there is something I need to know. Why do a lot of Christians treat members of the LGBTQ community and people who commit suicide as guilty of committing the unforgiveable sin? Newsflash! If either of those things was the unforgiveable sin Jesus would have come right out and said that it was but no the only unforgiveable sin is rejecting Christ and having an unrepentant heart until you die so I fail to understand why Christians automatically assume that if you're gay or you commit suicide you're going to Hell. Especially since you can bet that these people are already struggling enough as it is and a lot of them want help for it but a lot of the time they don't get it and hence why they take their own lives as sad as it is. :'(
There is a simple answer to this:

"All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men" (Matthew 12:30).

Concerning suicide, there are many reasons why people get into a state where they want to end their lives. Therefore, I don't go along with a blanket condemnation of it. God's justice is quite different from ours, and He would consider all the facts before making a judgment one way or the other. Jesus is our judge, and also is our defence lawyer. Extreme clinical depression, which is a sickness, and unbearable agony with the last stages of terminal cancer could very well be a defence at the judgment. We also need to remember Romans 8:1 where it says that there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.

Okay so umm,.. what does that have to do with this thread? The only time that LGBTQ people tend to play this card is when they're being bullied and receiving hate comments. In that sense they do become a victim whether those words are coming from a Christian or not.
My Bible says that a person who hates another is guilty of murder in his heart. Therefore hate speech against LGBTQ people is equal to murder according to the Scripture. Therefore I would find it easy to believe that LGBTQ folks who receive Christ may get into heaven before the religious hypocrite haters of them.

Good point.

If I had stage 4 cancer I would let them morphine me to death.

I hate pain.

However, I hope I never go that way.
