When do you think that Jesus knew who He was and that He had to die on the cross for our sins? I would think that that would be rather difficult for a five year old to handle, but I think by twelve years old He was preaching in the temple. Since the Bible is pretty much silent on the childhood of Jesus I'm more curious of opinions or if there are ways to get the answer.

first thanks for the post, second, the bible is not silent on his childhood, scripture, Isaiah 50:4 "The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned."
Isaiah 50:5 "The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back."

and as an adult, in ministry, and about to be sacrifice
Isaiah 50:6 "I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting."
Isaiah 50:7 "For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed."

so in childhood, he GREW in Wisdom, (Luke 2:40, and Luke 4:22) ... EVERY DAY, according to Isaiah 50:4, and was an astute student unto the Spirit.
he was not rebellious.

It was probably revealed to the Lord through the holy scriptures over time. In His humanity, Jesus was not Omniscient (Mark 13:32, Philippians 2:5-8).

Just for the record when I said that the Bible is silent about the childhood of Jesus, I meant for the most part. Of course we obviously know that He wasn't throwing tantrums as a toddler when He didn't get His way or sassing His parents when He became a teenager since He was always obedient and honoring them.

Acts 4:27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

Acts 4:30
By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

does anyone else find these verses curious?

I would say certainly by the age of 12, but maybe earlier than that. Luke 2:49 says Mary and Joseph couldn't find him and Jesus said he was doing his fathers business. And he may or may not have been sassy about it, by the way. It certainly seems that Mary was scolding him and even (incorrectly) calls Joseph his father.

Huh, interesting...for some reason, that movie Benjamin Button came to mind...

Are you hinting that maybe He never grew up...or that He may have aged backwards...or something?

Or am I just a bit too tired? I was just dozing off.

When?
Most likely when (He, Myself and I) <---
(Word, Will, Power of God)
Was having Council with Himself, deciding what to Create and Make....and then gave mankind a summation of what occurred at the Council.

Gen. 1:
[26] And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:

People believe different thinks but the Bible is silent on His childhood and His life as a young adult.
We do not know exactly where He was at before His ministry.
We do know that He was a High Priest of the Order of Melchizedek but the details of that are not explained.
We are lead to belief that the trade of His family was carpentry but tekton can be translated different ways.
The Catholic Church teaches the Infancy Gospels but not as Gospels but as additional information.
And this is something that the Protestants are not going to agree with at all.

As was supposed (Luke 3:23)

not supposed

he is his father

supposed is biological father

in Luke and John he is his real father
But His legal father

there’s more than one kind of father
So the Virgin birth of Mary mother of God ever virgin is safe!

Huh?

Joseph was Jesus's step father. Not his biological father and certainly not his spiritual father, but the man who took on fatherly duties in raising a child and providing for the household. Even still, Jesus said he was doing his Father's business when Mary and Joseph were looking for him. Besides, this has nothing to do with the OP and I'm really not interested in debating it.

Interesting question - Never thought of that one.
A child prodigy does amazing things as an infant, starts playing piano at two and writes a concerto at 4. Those are gifted people. They have a new soul (mind, will, emotions and talents). They mhst kearn from scratch and they do, very quickly.
However, Jesus is God who pre-existed with the Father. Jesus is the Creator. He is all knowing. He emptied Himself into Mary's womb. Physically, he was a normal developing baby boy. But he was not a new soul, He was God, all knowing. His mind did not have to grow, he did not have to learn mentally, only physically. Without drawing too much attention to himself, He played the part as young Clark Kent did. He knew His mission, when His time would come and was an obedient son.
He relinquished His power and glory, but I believe he knew.
Or would you rather think God became an ignorant baby, who knew nothing? Sorry, I can't.

I think that He did.

Jesus said in Mark 13:32 that even He didn't know the day or hour of His return.

And therefore, He was not Omniscient, largely because He had emptied Himself of Omniscience in order to function fully as a human being (Philippians 2:5-8).
