What does The Bible say about profanity? I think there's something in there somewhere about it. Can anyone help here? Thanks.

Ephesians 4 NKJV
29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

1 Timothy 1:9
knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

1 Timothy 4:7
But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness.

1 Timothy 6:20
[ Guard the Faith ] O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge—

2 Timothy 2:16
But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness.

Hebrews 12:16
lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.

Profane in the above contexts refers to being "sinful".

Shalom!!

Thank you. I would not have found those passages myself because they do not contain the word profane/profanity in the NIV - which is my main study translation.

But in the study translation of last resort, they read as follows:

1Tim 4:7 and the profane and old women's fables reject thou, and exercise thyself unto piety,

1Tim 6:20 O Timotheus, the thing entrusted guard thou, avoiding the profane vain-words and opposition of the falsely-named knowledge

2 Tim 2:16 and the profane vain talkings stand aloof from, for to more impiety they will advance

Youngs Literal Translation

Profanity.

After my vision, I had my senses exercised, this only happened to me three times, A person who murders a little child, now you magnify the evil by one thousand times, well that’s the intensity of what evil felt and sounded like to my ears, as I can hear a person committing profanity, when I was in the company of disobedient children, one time I was in the company of a wicked person. The intense magnitude of evil they sounded to my ears, it was like listening to little Satan’s, and I wondered, how much more evil do I sound to God when he hears me speak?
