That is one very confused post, for example, your sentence "Unwilling is still a choice" is ridiculous because, in effect, you have separated "choice" from the "will" with your sentence, after all, we are corresponding about the Apostle Paul writing that Adam did not willingly eat of the tree forbidden as food (Romans 8:20-22).
Not confusing, but sound reasoning.
Plenty of examples where people have unwillingly committing sin.
Christians are constantly tempted by the devil.
Even God tests His children.
A good example of a Christian unwilling committing sin is in their secular work.
In south Africa there was a women who believed in Jesus.
She was married and faithful to her husband.
They were very poor.
She was given opportunity to work for a company that would pay her a good salary.
She met with the man who first interviewed her.
After the interview he told her he needed to see her again, they agreed on a second interview.
She and her husband were desperate that she get this job.
They prayed every day and night until the second interview.
She met again with the company man.
He told her she had the job!
She was full of joy and told her husband the good news!
Her husband said God has answered our prayers.
Her husband called all the family, they had a big celebration.
She had to meet one more time with the company man.
Then he told her the requirement of her job description which she had to perform to be employed by the company.
He propositioned her with sex.
At first she was shocked! She said no.
Then she thought about her husband and family and their desperate situation.
So she reluctantly agreed.
She began working for the company
And the company man began taking advantage of her.
Her conscience finally got the best of her.
She told her husband what was going on at work.
She begged him and God to forgive her.
Her husband forgave her.
She quit her job.
But the consequence of her sin was already done.
She became physically ill.
Later she found out she had contracted AIDS
This women unwilling commited sin.
In one sense she did not want to commit adultery against God and her husband.
In another sense she did what she did not want to do wrongly thinking she had to for the sake of her family.
Conclusion:
In one sense you can commit sin unwilling.
But with the women in the story she in another sense commited sin willingly for the wrong reasons.
Adam knew it was wrong, he was never deceived
Eve was foolish and believed the devils lie
God said they would die.
Satan deceived Eve into believing she would not
Adam knew better but went along anyway.
after all, we are corresponding about the Apostle Paul writing that Adam did not willingly eat of the tree forbidden as food (Romans 8:20-22).
Did I ever say Adam sinned unwillingly?
I dont remember saying this.
I said in general people sin unwillingly.
Adam was not deceived. He sinned deliberately
Eve was deceived and also sinned deliberately
Kermos you are not rightly dividing Romans 8:20.
If Adam ate of the fruit unwillingly.
Then who made him eat of it?
Muslims try to force non-muslims to become muslims.
YOU CANNOT FORCE ANYONE TO DO ANYTHING AGAINST THEIR WILL.
Which btw, proves we have freewill.
This is why christisns do not try to force unbelievers into being christians.
Its impossible!
So who are you putting the blame on? God or Women? These are your only choices Kermos!
You eliminated Adam by teaching he was unwilling.
Totally unwilling in every sense would be like someone holding you down.
Forcing your mouth open while another person shoves the fruit into your mouth.
Is that what happened Kermos?
Genesis 3:12,
- Then the man said, The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree and
I ate.
Doesn't sound like Adam did that unwilling to me. Unless Eve had a weapon pointed at his head then maybe, lol
Romans 8:20 rightly divided.
- For the
creation was subjected to futility, not
willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope.
Now I will be the first to admit this is not an easy passage to understand.
That's why so many misunderstand what Paul is teaching.
Paul is speaking here figuratively not literally.
Creature is not Adam but creation itself,
The word creature/creation , subject: means made subject.
It's a military term it means "to rank under"
This came to mean "to subject" or "to arrange under"
Paul is teaching creation became subject to "frustration" Remember this is figurative language.
This is an allusion to Genesis 3:17-19 especially verse 17.
When God said,
- cursed is the ground for thy sake
The ground would bring forth
- thorns also and thistles Gen. 3:18
The sin of Adam and Eve brought this change to creation.
Not willingly:
The subjection to "frustration" or "frailty" came to the creation because of the transgressions of Adam and Eve.
And was NOT something creation was
willing to recieve.
Obviously creation does not have it's own will in the sense that a rational creature like man does.
That's why this is figurative
So what does Paul mean by saying,
- For creation was subjected to futility
Not willingly,
but because of Him who subjected it in hope.
Paul means " creation..not willingly" literally means creation changed because of Adam and Eves sin toward frailty, "not through it's own fault"
"Not willingly" is not referring to Adam himself but creation.
