In order to maintain the current population (in any society) the live birth rate for EVERY woman of child bearing years needs to be 2.7. Meaning every woman needs to have a minimum of 3-4 children. The USA Currently has a 1.7 live birth rate for women.

As a woman do you relish the idea of 3-4 kids?

As a man do you want to father 3-4 kids?

Are YOUR children planning on parenting 3-4 of their own?

What do you think they feel about it?
No, my older son and daughter have one child each, and definitely passed wanting anymore
My middle son has two children , also no desire to have anymore
my youngest lives with me , has mental health issues and has no desire to even be in a relationship.

I think size of home is a factor but also cost of living. My middle son and his wife spend a fortune on nursery, after school clubs ect because they both have to work full time. They have just moved to Northern Ireland to get a bigger home ( houses are cheaper there than in the south of England.
My oldest relationship broke down and he remarried some years later but my daughter in law doesn’t want children.
My daughter would have loved to have another child but got hyperemesis and just couldn’t face going through that again. Interestingly I got that with all four of mine, the last one was worse and wasn’t planned as I had been sterilised. Being sick for nine months was awful !

A good reason for controlled and orderly immigration

Exactly the type of answers I was looking for.
Thank you!

Thank you for your post.

We are delighted with 3 children and 6 grandchildren.

Would we wish our children had larger families? Yes, but that is their choice.

Going slightly off-topic: It may be that believers have larger families than non-believers, and that is a good thing. However, rather than encourage non-believers to have more children, we would prefer they turn to God first.

Is more immigration the answer? Ok, but not what we have been seeing in the USA the last four years.

Peace.

I have 2 children and I would have had many more. I had 2 miscarriages and so I stopped after that.

My daughter and her husband has 1 child(aged 7) and my son and his girlfiend have none yet. But he is busy on a year long mission/ excercise at sea, so certainly when they marry I am hoping they will have them. My daughter does not want any more children as she loves her new job.

I think the high cost of living is a factor these days as Rita said above, nursery fees are huge these days, I had the luxury of helping my daughter navigate those fees, but not all nana's can afford or are willing to give up their time(or job) for that. I will also do the same for my son if he needs it. Family comes first.
