New Book: The Immortal Mind

Although we mostly hear about science thinking it has disproved God, or promoting Godless evolution, occasionally we see just the opposite.


The basic idea is that science cannot explain how our brain works—it is more than an organic machine. Christians know this, but we welcome discussion from scientists.

Indeed, the Bible is the source of truth about the spirit, as well as God’s expectations for us and promises to us. But without the many written commentaries, most of us would find that truth difficult to fathom.

On the other hand, the Bible has little to say about science and engineering, and it was never intended to.

Unless you are a hunter-gatherer living in the depths of the Amazon jungle, you are the beneficiary of millennia of scientific and engineering knowledge: the daily bread, drink, shelter, clothing, and health care you have today exceed any standard of living in the past. With God’s help, dedicated scientists continue to achieve a better understanding of the world He created, and we are all beneficiaries.

Please point out all of the scientific principles elaborated in the Bible, with emphasis on agriculture, materials science, complex & synthetic materials, and medicine.

Unlike spiritual truth, which God has and can communicate directly and indirectly, scientific understanding and engineering progress come from patient investigations, with God providing insights and helping to synthesize facts. There have been no updates to the Bible for nearly 2,000 years.

Tribes that obeyed God’s commands had a superior community to those that did not. But they could not improve their standard of living without understanding their environment and seeking answers to basic questions of how things worked. God never gave humans a single answer to a scientific question. It was always and still is a partnership.

Genesis 1 provides general cosmological knowledge for the universe, but its purpose is to establish God as creator.

By all means preach the gospel but kindly do not denigrate those that pursue and love science and engineering.
