Doesn't that set up a hopeless situation for humankind?Man's finite mind cannot understand an infinite God...
No, but it loses the personal power of hearing it directly from God.Began at the mouth of the Lord... thus saith the Lord... spoken again by the prophets... and written for our admonition. The word doesn't lose it's power through being repeated, nor written.
The greatness of ordinariness is only appreciated by the enlightened. Eyes that see and ears which hear are awakened to this fact.Man's finite mind cannot understand an infinite God and God ordained His writings through prophets and Apostles, so we can read about our infinite God and worship Him correctly. Ephesians 3:8 and Psalm 12:6-7. God's word is alive and active, Hebrews 4:12
And faith is all it takes to please God - and if you are doing that and you are seeking him out that's great!
No, but it loses the personal power of hearing it directly from God.
Look at what is happening in Iran right now. Jesus is appearing in person to Muslims. (some 90% of new converts)
Bibles are hard to come by. A personal encounter with Christ is life-changing.
As you wrote...We are hearing directly from God through His written Word! How would any man know Christ without first hearing the gospel written in the Bible proclaimed unto them that all may know Him?
As you wrote...
... how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? ...
The gospel as the spoken word of God.
Have you put the Bible on a pedestal? Do you run to the Bible for help instead of God?
Are you claiming that God does not speak "audibly" to us anymore?Because now it is through His written Word that God communicates with man.
Are you claiming that God does not speak "audibly" to us anymore?
Jesus said...
John 10:27 NIV
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
There you go.I've never heard His voice through physical hearing; however, I do hear Him speak to my spirit (heart/mind) through His Spirit in me.
1 Corinthians 2:9-11 (KJV) But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
Romans 8:14-16 (KJV) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Perhaps you should review the meaning of 'directly?' If one sends a messenger, or a letter, that would be 'indirectly.'We are hearing directly from God through His written Word! How would any man know Christ without first hearing the gospel written in the Bible proclaimed unto them that all may know Him?
Romans 10:8-16 (KJV) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
What did that mean WHEN it was written? Why is the BIBLE, THE WRITTEN WORD of GOD THE SOURCE for LIFE? We read: Romans 10:17 (KJV) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Which "God" would that be? No clue maybe? There you go.
The Bible is a resource, not a source. God is the source.
Amen! And Including Many Specific Instructions Of "How To":The Bible is THE SOURCE, His spoken word in written form as He has commanded, that we might KNOW Him!
What did that mean WHEN it was written?
The Bible wasn't canonized until the 4th century.
Therefore: "the word of God" did not mean the Bible.
Luke 5:1 NIV
One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,[a]
the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God.
So you are claiming that "the word of God" in the verse below is the Old Testament? The Word of God prior to the canonization of the Bible we now have is found in the writings of the Law and prophets which is what Jesus and the Apostles learned and taught from.
Another BLATANT Bible attack! Is that all you're here for? What did that mean WHEN it was written?
