A Deadly Outbreak of Hantavirus Has Stranded a Cruise Ship in the Atlantic Ocean. Here’s What to Know About the Rare Contagion

Three people have died in association with the vessel, and health officials have identified a total of two confirmed cases and five suspected cases of the infection. The virus usually spreads via contaminated rodent droppings

The MV Hondius cruise ship, which just toured the southern Atlantic Ocean, is now stranded near Africa’s west coast while 147 passengers and crew face an outbreak of the rare hantavirus.
The World Health Organization announced two confirmed cases and five suspected cases of the virus as of May 4. That includes three individuals who have died, one of whom had disembarked the ship.

Viral outbreaks on cruise ships are not unheard of, as tight quarters for long durations allow the spread of highly contagious germs. In 2025, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) noted 23 outbreaks on ships that docked in the U.S. Most were attributed to norovirus, an easily spread pathogen that causes diarrhea and vomiting but typically isn’t lethal.

Hantavirus is different than typical cruise ship outbreaks, though. Most strains aren’t contagious between people.

“I don’t know of any other cases [of hantavirus] reported on a cruise ship before,” Emily Abdoler, an infectious diseases doctor at the University of Michigan Medical School, tells the New York Times’ Alexandra E. Petri and Livia Albeck-Ripka. “This is not a common infection, but it’s even less common to have the human spread raised as a possibility.”

Hantavirus typically spreads through contact with the urine, saliva or feces of rodents. But one version, called the Andes virus, is suspected of passing from person to person, mostly in Argentina and Chile. The MV Hondius departed from southern Argentina a few weeks ago.

Argentina and Chile. The Western Hemisphere. Lots of changes happening in South America.
The Shield of the Americas

Is this another "Covid 19" outbreak?

IYKYK

Sounds like food poisoning to me, but I'm not a doctor, so.....

My middle name is Conspiracy Theory,
just saying...

Mid terms around the corner. For some reason viruses love to pop up right before elections.

I am praying for the people stranded on the ship and hope they get home safely.
I just have a problem with the "cause" .

There have been reports that’s the two 69 year olds that died , husband and wife from Europe, had been in Argentina on a bird watching tour that took them close to a landfill sight. I believe that those who are ill now have been taken of the ship and taken to the Netherlands. Tenerife refused to take them, Ironic that I was on a cruise ship in Tenerife only last Thursday ( my Sil with paranoid schizophrenia now thinks I have the virus and doesn’t want me to visit !! )
They are also trying to track down passengers of a flight that the two earlier victims were on , there has been a case reported in Switzerland. They are also conveying that this is not transmitted in the same way as flu or covid. They are saying it is a low risk , there are about 200 cases each year.
I didn’t realise that this is what Gene Hackman and his wife died of last year.

I still think it's food poisoning.

With a dash of politics.

Argentina is making a come back. President Milei is doing a good job.
Of course he is a Trump supporter and we all know how much Trump is loved and respected by the world. (sarcasm)
China Virus...
Brought our country to it's knees. Locked us up, shut us down. Killed our economy and caused us to fear each other.

In the environment we live in today, all one needs to do is say , oh look a flu, and everyone starts panicking.

I'm not buying it.
I didn't buy into covid either.
And now the truth is coming out.

I pray for Argentina and Chile and all the countries in the world that are trying to extricate themselves from the global one world order system.

Remember when they told us that we couldn't spread the virus if we took the jab?
And then people took the jab and started dying "suddenly" .

Remember that you couldn't catch the virus from bats and then it came out they was doing Gain of Function to create it?

They think we forget.
We Never forget.

French Fries anyone? How about a lottery ticket?
Just saying.

Not everything in this world revolves around , mid terms , Trump or the US !!!
Well, maybe not mid terms.
But wait until the Presidential Elections in 2028 and the whole world will be watching what the U.S does.
Mid terms determines who controls the purse of the People, and who has the power to confirm Judges.
Specially Supreme Court Justices. And a few of them are getting up there ready to retire.

AMSTERDAM, May 7 (Reuters) - Countries worldwide scrambled on Thursday to trace people who had left the cruise ship hit by a hantavirus outbreak before it got marooned off the coast of Cape Verde, in an effort to prevent further spread of the disease.

Three people - a Dutch couple and a German national - died in the outbreak on the MV Hondius. Eight people, including a Swiss citizen, are suspected to have contracted the virus, according to the World Health Organization.

The Dutch government on Wednesday said around 40 passengers had disembarked the ship in Santa Helena, where the ship made a stop on its way to Cape Verde - before the outbreak was reported.

The virus found in the victims has been confirmed as the Andean strain, which can spread among humans through very close contact.

Experts have stressed that contagion is very rare, but the outbreak has put health authorities on high alert.

The United States' Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on Wednesday it was closely monitoring the situation with U.S. travellers on board the ship, adding that the risk to the American public was extremely low at the time.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot on Thursday said one French citizen had been in contact with a person who had fallen ill but was not currently showing symptoms.

Argentina's health ministry has said it will carry out rodent trapping and analysis in the southern city of Ushuaia, the origin point of the cruise ship.

The MV Hondius, with nearly 150 people on board, is expected to dock in Spain's Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, by Saturday.

Once in Tenerife, if they are still healthy, all non-Spanish citizens will be repatriated to their countries, while 14 Spanish passengers will be quarantined in a military hospital in Madrid.

Three patients were evacuated from the ship on Wednesday. One of them has been admitted to a hospital in the Netherlands, while another one was transferred to Germany for medical care.

The plane carrying the third patient was set to land in the Netherlands early on Thursday, after facing a delay due to a problem with the patient's life support system.

Symptoms

Health officials revealed the initial signs of the Andes virus can present with flu-like symptoms. This could include a fever, chills, muscle pain and sometimes gastrointestinal symptoms.

Respiratory symptoms tend to be absent at the start but these symptoms can show as the illness gets worse. For example, infected people could experience a dry cough which come from leakage from the capillaries into the lungs.

Health officials also added that symptoms usually do not show immediately and usually start one to eight weeks later, according to the World Health Organisation. The illness typically develops two to four weeks after someone has been exposed to the Andes virus.

Treatment

There is no proven specific treatment or vaccine for hantavirus or the Andes strain. Care for the infected is supportive and doctors will help treat respiratory, cardiac and kidney complications. The WHO added that diagnosing the virus early makes a big difference in managing the disease.

Operational Use

MV Hondius is designed for small-scale polar expedition cruises, accommodating up to 170 passengers in 80 cabins with a crew of 71. It operates year-round, with Arctic voyages from April to September and Antarctic voyages from October to March, visiting remote locations such as Spitsbergen, Greenland, the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia, and the Falkland Islands. The ship’s design prioritizes both safety in ice conditions and environmental sustainability, allowing passengers to experience polar wildlife and landscapes with minimal ecological impact.

https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=5143...cGVyLmNvbS9zaGlwcy9NVi1Ib25kaXVzLTE2MjQ&ntb=1

In April and May 2026, an outbreak of hantavirus infection occurred on board the Hondius en route during a cruise in the South Atlantic. According to the shipping company, several people on board developed respiratory complaints, after which isolation measures were introduced.

Her cabins range from a 12 square meter twin/ triple of quadrupple porthole cabin up to the 35 square meters Hondius suite. One deck of the ship also is totally devoted to (multi-language) lectures and presentations in one large observation lounge and one seperate lecture room. The focus of the company lies on expeditions and land-exploration in general, so sea days will be kept short and a fleet of zodiacs is used to guarantee a fast and safe transport to the surroundings of the ship. Two gangways are used to speed up the process of zodiac embarkation, as well as an indoor platform that can be used for other forms of exploring with for example kayaks. The style of the ship is informal and cozy, although the experience can be called luxurious.

MV Hondius Stops Before Reaching Argentina

The MV Hondius did not make any stops before arriving in Argentina. According to its logbook and voyage records, the ship departed from Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, on March 20, 2026, with 149 people on board EL PAÍS English. It began its journey from the southernmost point of the continent, making excursions into the Antarctic region before returning to Ushuaia EL PAÍS English.

The vessel’s itinerary from Ushuaia (Argentina) onward included:

  • Antarctic region (excursions)
  • Ushuaia (return port)
  • April 1: Departed Ushuaia, heading north
  • April 5–6: Sandwich Islands (Hawaii)
  • April 13–14: Tristan da Cunha
  • April 22–24: Saint Helena
  • April 27: Ascension Island
  • May 3: Cape Verde (Praia) EL PAÍS English
So, prior to Argentina, the Hondius had no prior ports of call — it left directly from Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, on March 20, 2026, before making its first Antarctic excursions.

No Prior Ports of Call.... Remember that.

I will try and get the genetic screening info for this virus to see if it was engineered like the COVID virus, if i find something ill post here, its too early now but i am monitoring a few genomics sites.

I still think it is food poisoning and the Ship don't want to be held responsible.
But as some say, Never let a crisis go to waste.

This isn't your average joy ride cruise. This is an Expedition Ship which goes to remote areas.

In order to get on the ship you have to be physically healthy enough to kayak from the ship to land. You have to be able to traverse all kinds of terrain like rocky hillsides and jungles.

Most passengers are Lecturers and Scientists and Ecological Explorers.

We just misplaced like 10 scientists in the US. Some found dead, some still missing.

But nothing sells better than a good pandemic. And with all the money that is being redirected away from NIH and WHO,
well.....

Betsy Arakawa: The New Mexico Chief Medical Examiner confirmed she died from hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a rare and severe respiratory illness transmitted through contact with rodent droppings, urine, or saliva[^^14^^]. Her death likely occurred around February 11, 2025, based on her last known communications.

There was NO panic buttons pushed for the case of Gene Hackman's wife in February 2025.

Just saying.
And that was in New Mexico, USA.

I will not comply.

Oh no. Not this Fauci guy again.
I hope they don't try the same thing they tried with covid. I hope that people are more awake this time and push back harder against lockdowns and forced injections

It's always the same playbook.
Once you see it, you can never unsee it.

I think there is a lot more push back this time. Even though the media is trying their darndest to push it, it's not having the same effect as the last one.
People everywhere are waking up.
We call it: The Great Awakening.

God is not the author of confusion, chaos, or fear.
But we know that whatever evil faces us, we will overcome.

There are some really EVIL people in this world. Sometimes I wonder if they are even human or just possessed with evil.
Don't fall for the UFO thing either. It's just another distraction.

Pay attention to the good things. Because sometimes they get lost in the fog of war.

Keep your armor sharp and clean.

Media loves controversy and rage bait stories, it gets them eyeballs. Gains them clout among viewers and ultimately more money. What amazes me is how much people fall for their facts.

My dad is watching a documentary this morning about Hitler and the Nazi's.
Now I wasn't here in the 1940's, so all I have to go by is what the tell-a-vision, programs me to know.
But one of the things that was discussed was Hitlers use of images to convey propaganda messages against the Jews.
And I thought, hmm Memes.
Today we call them memes, yesterday they was called cartoons.

You have to understand, both sides are being slammed with all kinds of images every minute of every day.
Both sides believe the other side are the bad guys, when the real bad guys are the ones doing the programming.

I have to keep coming back to Jonah and Nineveh.
The people of Nineveh, as God explains it, didn't know the difference between their right hand from their left.
Whoever was doing the programming led them to that state of ignorance.

Jon 4:11
And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?

That's 120,000 people. Of course population was much lower then than it is today. But that's a lot of people.

And you have Jonah which represents the "righteous" on both sides, waiting for the other side to be destroyed.

We are living in interesting and scary times.
But if you can see through the veil, if you know who is behind the curtain,
If you can admit there is a curtain, then you are less likely to be swayed in any particular direction.

At this time, both sides are crying for bloody murder and civil war.
We don't want it. But the ones doing the programming do.

Rock em, Sock em Robots.

1778338058993.png

When you can see the whole picture from a 40,000 foot viewpoint, You will be able to walk off the platform.
It is so easy to get swallowed up by the whale of a tale that controls our minds.

Learn to Discern.

No matter what happens,
In the End,
God Wins.

interesting article;

PCR was also confirmed as bogus in Covid testing

4.2 The Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Test

The alleged “two confirmed cases” of hantavirus infection: are presented by the WHO as “confirmed” by the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, namely RT-PCR positive. This statement is erroneous.

While the PCR test continues to be used, a WHO’s Advisory dated January 20, 2021 questions the validity of the RT-PCR test (positive), which means that the above statement pertaining to the two RT-PCR hantavirus cases are not confirmed.

The RT-PCR test does not identify/detect the virus. What the PCR test identifies are genetic fragments of numerous viruses (including influenza viruses types A and B and coronaviruses which trigger common colds).
The results of the RT-PCR test cannot “confirm” whether an individual who undertakes the PCR test is infected with Hantavirus. A positive test does not mean that you have the hantavirus and/or that you could transmit the hantavirus.
“The PCR is a process. It does not tell you that you are sick.”
Dr. Kary Mullis, Nobel Laureate and Inventor of the RT-PCR, passed away in August 2019.
According to Dr. Kary Mullis, “The PCR detects a very small segment of the nucleic acid which is part of a virus itself.”
According to renowned Swiss immunologist Dr. B. Stadler:
“So if we do a PCR corona test on an immune person, it is not a virus that is detected, but a small shattered part of the viral genome.
The test comes back positive for as long as there are tiny shattered parts of the virus left.
Even if the infectious viri are long dead, a corona test can come back positive, because the PCR method multiplies even a tiny fraction of the viral genetic material enough [to be detected].
