I try to avoid that mindset.
I maintain an attitude of gratitude.
I am an American.
I could have been born in the Congo, Thailand or the Amazon.
True, and overall I am still grateful for what I have and for my rights and freedoms as an American, but when it comes to big business and politicians, unfortunately, that's how it works.

How did big business get to be big?
They started small.
That's the (magic) of capitalism and freedom.
They can't STAY big without us using their products.
Politicians on the other hand:
Poli = many
Tics = blood suckers .

I had to have Co-Pilot fact check this one.

Summary

Beer prices per gallon vary significantly, but most consumers can expect a typical range of $10–$30 per gallon, with taxes, brand, and beer style being the main drivers.

Keg-based pricing translates to roughly $4.50–$8.50 per gallon depending on beer type and supplier.

So, beer is not quite cheaper than gasoline. However, if you have a diesel-powered vehicle and buy Coors Light by the keg, they may have a point.

Americans on this forum are complaining? The American dollar is worth nearly $2 Australian or NZ, yet the cost of petrol is half ours. We are paying the equivalent of $4 a litre more or less, multiply by 4.5 to get one gallon, that's approaching $18 equivalent per gallon. Okay, I'm not a maths wiz, maybe skewed a bit, but generally speaking, why are you Americans complaining? Seriously?

They're complaining because they were paying less than they are now

At New Zealand today, the average price is:

$3.60 NZD per liter
(equal to approximately $7.66 USD per gallon).

Your numbers are correct when you take into account the NZD to USD exchange rates depending on the exchange rate when the comparison was calculated.

The US gallon is 3.78 liters, (imperial gallon being 4.54 liters) making the cost equivalent $3.60 X 3.78= $13.61.

B your cost comparison is correct if we only consider NZD without taking into account the exchange rate between the two countries being comparied.

I just wish people would stop blowing up the refineries already.
It almost feels like being sabotaged.
Just saying

Yes, it is very difficult to compare prices, because there are three possible differences between countries to be taken into account: the national currency, the use of gallons or litres to measure the petrol/gas, and the fact that the US gallon is not the same as the gallon used in the UK, or, it seems, in Australia and New Zealand.

Large eggs here in the UK are about £3.35 a dozen, which I understand is equivalent to $4.45.
If I buy the local brand it's $1.99 for Extra Large Brown Eggs a dozen.
If I go to a name brand the same product can run as high as 8.99 a dozen.
Must be the refrigeration in the reefers that transport the eggs that's keeping them higher than the local brand.
Crazy huh?
Almost like the big corporate name brands are making a pretty good profit.
I buy the $1.99 ones myself.
I enjoy poached egg on toast. Scrambled eggs. Fried Eggs. Fried Egg sandwiches. Egg salad. Boiled eggs.
Even when the local people were selling eggs on the side of the road during covid for $5.00 a dozen I would buy 2 just incase the price went up the following week.

But even eggs eventually came down.
Right about the same time we had an outbreak with cattle and had to put thousands down, raising the cost of beef products.
Problem is, it takes longer to raise a cow than it does a chicken.
At least 3 years.
By next year this time the cost of beef should be coming back down like the eggs did.
Just like, once they stop bombing the refineries in Russia and Saudi Arabia, which is where most of Australia and NZ and China get their oil from, and they can be repaired, we take away the toys, things can get back to normal.

Whatever that is.
:D
