Hmmm.... Well, i don't recall reading about we can't hear his voice and live. Did I miss that in the Bible?it seems now as in the earliest days "no one can see God and hear His voice and live"- they had the prophets, and the Apostles and early disciples had Christ and we now have the Church - twinc

Well twinc, the church ( by which you mean your Catholic church I presume) 'To me' is not "The Voice of God"!!
I the wilderness the People of Israel said to Moses.."we don't want to come close to the mountain...you go up." They didn't want to come close to God..but to stand a way off, while Moses ascended the mount..
Heb 1.1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son." And, as we have a personal, living, relationship with God though Jesus Christ His Son...we need no middle man to speak to God, or hear from God.
Jesus said:- " If you have seen Me you have seen the Father." And, no one dropped dead!
By the way twinc...you start threads, but you don't finish them...you didn't finish or answer your thread :-
Dreams and dreaming !?
we do not like the Apostles have a personal, living, relationship with God - twinc
And, obviously brother I have to disagree...that may be your experience, but it sure is not mine!!
holier than us lot I guess - but probably only a more developed imagination - must accept what He says in the Bible as stated or do you think the Bible must be all wrong and not you - twinc
Actually so far off course you missed your destination.had Christ and we now have the Church -
"Where there is no vision, the people perish... Prov 29:18
Now, my old friend, we who see for the most part like me see through a glass darkly, but our vision should continue improve until we see face to face as per I Corinthians 13:12. That is the vision. There are spiritually blind people, but there is no good reason for them to remain so. God has made a Way for us obtain a vision and then to improve that vision as we walk with Him.
Of course you are correct twinc, but only God is qualified to make the final judgment on another person with regard to imaginations and/or visions.a vivid imagination is not the same as a vivid vision - many are gifted with various degrees of imagination and even claim to hear heavenly voices in their head that are merely talking to themselves either aloud and openly or silently - twinc
Of course you are correct twinc, but only God is qualified to make the final judgment on another person with regard to imaginations and/or visions.
God has never changed and therefore would it not follow that He has never stopped speaking to those who are in need and ask of Him?
"Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." Matt 5:6
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." Matt 7:7-8
And, of course, according your rule of thumb, then much of the Bible is not supposed to be read. So why do we bother since you've already determined that it is not directed to our eyes, ears and hearts?as per usual - it happens again and again - off at a tangent and all mixed up as here what is not under contention or contest that God speaks but how He speaks - this we are clearly told in the bible but there is a refusal to accept and/or obey viz 'did God really say' etc - as regards Matt 5 and 7 this was not spoken to us - we have already been found as Christianity and Christ have been found for us - Jews and other good folk will seek and be born again and find etc - twinc

One of these days, twinc, you are going to surprise me by writing something that is really helpful to me.
Would it be wrong for me to simply say, "Give God the glory!"
For one having more than my 73 years, while you may have some wisdom for yourself, you do not seemed to have not gained enough wisdom to be able share it in an understandable way with most others. Is there a reason for that that you would be willing to share?
- why don't you - seems you think Matt 16:19 & 18:18 were addressed to you - all this rubbish is according to you - btw my thinking on this, that or the other does not make the Church wrong nor does your thinking do so - twincUnfortunately, twinc, knowing your position from so many encounters previously, is that I know that according to your understanding of Matt 16:19 and Matt 18:18 the words were not addressed to me. Until we can get past that, we can hardly proceed. It will take God to do it and He will only do what we will allow Him to do. You have even taken position opposed the current Roman Catholic position for you effectively renounce most or all of the changes of Vatican II. This effectively makes you part of a protestant denomination holding a place along with the 40,000+ others that apparently exist today. Of course, yours is better than them as well as better than the one which does support all Vatican II changes.
So, even though you may even doubt my place, I will nonetheless say:
Give God the glory!
