Throughout the Bible I am reading of demons possessing people. Even in Jesus' wanderings there are numerous accounts of him casting out demons. What is the modern day thinking of demons in people? Do demons in people only manifest in absurd and dramatic ways or can it be more subtle than that? Is it possible that the devil fighting for a person's soul could make them do things that they otherwise would never think of doing? Usually if you think of demon possession, the whole person is overcome and they have no control over anything. Could it be though that a person remains cognitive and yet gives in to something that they cannot explain why they did it. Is this more likely just man's sinful nature or is it possible that satan still possesses people today but is less obvious about it?

I think people can still be possessed today. People know about having things like "spirit guilds" that talk to them. People who practice Voodoo purposely bring on spirit possessions. The bible talks about people having different spirits Acts 16:16. For this girl the spirit was giving her power of divination. People today practice divination. If it was possible back then, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible today. I don't think demons have changed how they work since then. Maybe there is scripture to prove me wrong here?

Satan doesn't have to fight for anyone's soul. He already has the souls of all those who are lost. He just wants to hang onto them and to prevent those who are born again from serving God and winning others to Christ.Yes, he can still possess the lost but not the saved since we have the Holy Spirit within us. He can, however, put thoughts in our minds, and he knows our weaknesses and will tempt us through those in an effort to make us ineffective for the Lord..

I believe that Demons exist just like they did in the past. I think many times when people "flip out" and harm many people is is the work of demons. I don't think that every time is a possession type event. Just people being cut of from God's word and having a evil spirit speaking evil into them. This doesn't mean that people are not culpable for their actions, but sometimes a weak in sprit person can be taken advantage of or even taken over by a demon.

I believe that there are demons in our days...stronger and they thirst for peoples souls...but the people who believe in God, demons don't affect them...He can fight them because we have the Holy Spirit in our heart so do not afraid of anything...Take care

Ah, but satan and his cohorts CAN affect Christians when we take our eyes off of Jesus and put them on ourselves and our circumstances. When we become weak in our faith, satan can put doubts in our mind and cause us to stumble in our walk. When we get to the point of believing that we are safe because we're saved, we fall into satan's trap of forgetting to rely on God. We are told that satan roams to and fro seeking whom he may devour, and that means the saved since he already has the lost. He seeks to destroy those who have trusted in the Lord. He can't get our souls back, but he can destroy our testimony for the Lord if we're not careful and always vigilant--realizing that satan is out to destroy anything that is God's.

I would like to add the fact that Yeshua is the same of yesterday, today and tomorrow, as the scripture declares it( Hebrews 13:8) . Scientific discovers, technology, human philosophy, or human arguments does not change God's Word and truth. The Lord came to break Satan's works ( 1st John 3:8), as He did it while physically present on earth, He does it today.

I believe that the majority of people who are possessed today are in mental institutions! Some have chemical inbalance, but the majority are plaqued by demons.Demons can do incredible things, but are not as powerful as a born again believer in Jesus. We have the authority to cast them out.I've seen several cast out in some of the churches that I've been in!

ITA also. I once had a cocky attitude and thought Satan couldn't hurt me. How stupid of me! Stupidity of youth...

I will give u understanding as God gave me understanding. When God created the angels He made them like the military but instead of rank He gave them power and authority. From the least in power and authority up to and including God's generals or archangels. Man and angel r made in the image of God, God is a spirit being, we and angels r spirit beings trapped inside a body. The difference between man and angel, angels have a different body and they have power and authority which man has no power and a little authority. We have a spiritual heart that is the center of our being and is where emotions and desires dwell in us and is where the inborn nature or God's Spirit dwells in us. The spiritual heart is located in the lower left side of our chest. The angels rebelled because they WANTED what God would not allow and they WANTED it MORE than they WANTED God. IF they would have WANTED God MOST then they would not have rebelled. We r here because of what they did. We r here to be tested and tried, molded and made ready for heaven. If we can serve god no matter the cost like Job and Joseph (Go through the fire). If we can surrender our will and do God's will for our life (Take up our cross). If we can say no to self, sin and the world here while being tempted (Overcome). If we can do all this here then when in heaven we will have no problem serving and obeying God. God will not just zap us and make us to where we will never rebel nor sin against Him. If He were to do this He would be programming us and we would be no more than robots and no longer free willed. When God cast Lucifer and his angels out of heaven Lucifer became the devil or satan and his angels became demons. God also took their bodies from them or they would be walking and mating with us as some once did. The inborn nature is nothing more than a demon (fallen angel) of the least power and authority. They cannot possess us as in demonic possession that requiress several with their combined power or one of a higher power, but they do controll us. They raise up emotions and desires, they give us urges, feeling and impressions, and they put thoughts in our head. If u will take note there is almost always a motive behind what we say, do and think. Do we say, do and think because of lust, greed, envy, jealousy, pride, anger, hatred etc. or do we say, do and think because of love, compassion, and long suffering etc. What is in our heart will come out in word, thought and or deed. When God's Spirit comes into our heart He cast out the inborn nature and also casts out bad emotions like greed, lust etc. because God will not dwell where sin dwells. When these bad emotions r no longer in our heart they no longer controll us it is how God makes it possible to say no to sin. The inbore nature is still with us but no longer in our heart and he will still raise up emotions, desires etc. to try to get us to sin. We can give into an emotion and allow it back into our heart and it will controll us til we repent and ask God to take it from our heart again. U say there is no tempter in heaven, that is correct but u will still WANT. WANT is why the angels rebelled. The bible says that we r tempted when we r drawn away because of our own lust. It is something that we WANT. U cannot be tempted by something that u truly care nothing about. We must do our part and God will do the rest. We must change ourselves with God's help. God uses these fallen angel to test and try, mold and make us ready for heaven. By overcoming and saying no to sin do we change. It helps us get to the place where we hate the things that cause us problems instead of WANTING them. God also gives these fallen angels what they WANTED but they must get it by expierencing what we expierence. Because of what Lucifer thought of himself (he was the most beautiful angel and he knew it) and because of what he WANTED he allowed pride to emter his heart. I hope this helps u.
