What was the father of the prodigal son planning?
It was in the father's plan for his son to grow up, nothing like a good dose of the schoolhouse.

What was the father of the prodigal son planning?
However, I'd also like to say that I don't need to suffer to learn obedience...
I don't think God, our creator, wants us to suffer.
This can be a real problem when a person's connection to his own home nation [patriotism] is so strong that it influences or even overwhelms his desire to always please and obey God. A verse I often refer to is:There can be difficulty in linking one country's foreign and military policy with items of news which happen to get a lot of publicity. For the believer, I think the point is that the Lord knows and sympathizes and strengthens His people under affliction; plenty of verses to show this, like in the Psalms, etc.
Matthew 6.33 has a clear challenge indeed. This can be a real problem when a person's connection to his own home nation [patriotism] is so strong that it influences or even overwhelms his desire to always please and obey God. A verse I often refer to is:
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" Matt 6:33
If we ever insert the name of our home nation into that verse [not in writing or spoken, but in fact] on effectively equal footing with God's kingdom and God's righteousness we are already in trouble with God.
I'm not sure what you mean. There can be difficulty in linking one country's foreign and military policy with items of news which happen to get a lot of publicity. For the believer, I think the point is that the Lord knows and sympathizes and strengthens His people under affliction; plenty of verses to show this, like in the Psalms, etc.
Pretty weak answer. It was in the father's plan for his son to grow up, nothing like a good dose of the schoolhouse.
There's very little I misunderstand of what I know. You may be miss understanding the point, suffering is built into this world we live in. You will suffer in the world, in this body, however you look at it, it's there. Jesus learned from the suffering he went through, Hebrews 5:8
Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
What do you mean A?
I'm talking about Christians being killed all over the globe.
I think an army should go into these countries and stop this slaughter of men, women and
children.
I wish I could be Queen for a day.
Pretty weak answer.
THE SON ASKED FOR HIS INHERITANCE AND LEFT.
How was this the FATHER'S PLAN???
You've embroiled yourself in one of the best parables in the bible....
you don't seem to understand it.
You REALLY should read it again until you understand the messages in there.
Great post. Nothing to add. This could be a long post but to put in short....Besides the scriptures the best defense against Satan is exposure. As a person that has been in combat, the US does not fight countries or religions of different views, they fight evil. For example we are not going to go to war with India because they are Hindus and Buddhists. Historically we fight the horrors of the world. As it is now Satan likes to operate in areas where there are few cameras, Burma is a good example. The US has allies but as it is now, it is the US that is fighting evil, but it is best to pick your fights. The Moslems should be shaking in their boots because Trump is pulling troops from the areas....that means he does not intend to use troops...boom! In the US the democrats are trying to turn this country to communism....what do you think the world would be like if the US turned communist? When I speak at churches I ask, how can a Christian vote for a democrat? The answers that I get from the older people implies that they think that the democrats from the 50's are still around.....they are not. The answers I get from young people is that they like getting things for free. We will see how that turns out.
Philippians is a great Epistle to read if we are studying the theme of the believer's joy in suffering. There's very little I misunderstand of what I know.
I agree with what you've said and have already stated this.
I said we could learn from our suffering.
