I think most of God's plans are predestined. I don't believe that people were predestine before the beginning of the creation. Free will is the best way for God to find people loving him on their own accord, not made to love him.

From what I understand is that the OT people could not get saved from death. The OT saints died but were saved from eternal death, they would get a resurrection to get eternal life. laws -obedient - believing faith, all seem to have part in getting a resurrection for them.
