    Christian Denominations

What I meant was that Luther had to dissent and leave the Catholic Church in order to advance "Salvation by Grace, through Faith" [SbGtF]. If he would have remained, he would have been stifled. At that point, there was the ["True" or "Universal"*] Church and the Church that preaches SbGtF...

    Christian Denominations

That can even be seen in The Parable of the Talents, where Jesus gave each of His servants responsibilities in accordance with their abilities [faith?].

    Christian Denominations

Some tenets drive people to a religious crab-pot mentality. If Luther did not dissent, there would have been no Reformation. If the Anababtists did not dissent, there would have been no Believer's Baptism. If the principals of the Welsh Revival did not dissent (about not quenching the Spirit)...

    Christian Denominations

He was the Father of the Reformation --which gave those Anabaptists a platform in the first place. He just was a little short-sighted beyond his own contributions. :(

    Christian Denominations

Even non-denoms have tenets,* making them de facto denominations; they just don't have a franchise. * Some examples, Trinity, Original Sin, Salvation by grace, through faith, Infant vs. Believer's Baptism, Eternal Security vs. Conditional Salvation, Cessationism vs. Continuationism, Pre-Trib...

Now they do. Besides Catholics, Luther and the Puritans persecuted the Anabaptists back in the day, too.

    Christian Denominations

That's commitment...! (I don't think that it is worthwhile to align ourselves with such in the name of "unity." Ecumenism panders to the lowest common denominator.)

    Christian Denominations

I think that God uses denominationalism to keep us from rebuilding another tower at Babel. We are still expected to exhibit love & grace, however. While we might disagree on important points, none of us can presume to have a monopoly on Truth. That is where grace comes in. IIRC when addressing...

    Christian Denominations

(At least, it is diversified sin, instead of all of us betting on the same "horse." ♞ If we were to all bet on the same horse, which one should it be...? )

    Translations

@Wrangler, I go to Bible Gateway when I want to read/quote other versions. BibleGateway.com: A searchable online Bible in over 150 versions and 50 languages. I like NKJV, too, but my physical Bible is a parallel KJV/Amplified/NASB/NIV.

Was Paul Right About Women In Church?

Most patriarchy dogma is driven by cherry-picking Scripture to suit a particular bias. Men, concentrate on God's assignment for you, like "Love your wives as Christ loves the Church..." [Eph. 5:25-29]. Women, contrary to both patriarchists AND radical feminists, Paul did not write "Shut up...

    Christian Denominations

Jesus' Apostles and the earliest Christians were all Jews. It wasn't until Acts 10 that Gentiles started getting Saved, too.* (That didn't even occur to the original twelve before that.) *I am not sure how Dr. Luke (a Greek) fits with that...

    Are Christians Sinners?

When a murderer truly repents, God forgives them [see 1 Kings 21]. In most cases, they still have consequences down here. Most murderers must still go to prison, even if they are forgiven in God's sight. So even though we can get right with God, sin still has consequences that are better to...

Should christians stop celebrating Valentine's day

Outward change without inward conviction first. Those who recognize the pagan nature of worldly practices must speak up, but it isn't our job to drive it home. Even those who recognize these have even more things that we ourselves don't yet recognize [1 Corinthians 13:12]. That is the purpose...

Human Freewill the devil's greatest trick

Human Freewill the devil's greatest trick

Satan could not have tempted Eve (followed by Adam), if there was no freewill.
