Should christians stop celebrating Valentine's day

Most people who question Valentine's Day already know that about Christmas (and Easter & Halloween, too). IIRC, the OP already acknowledged that.* I only disagree with the OP about implementation. *That isn't a worthwhile objection.

    Robots and Will Worshipers

Is that all that you got from my post? If you look closely at your TV or computer monitor, you can discern their pixels, but not their "big picture." If you take a step back, you can see the "big picture," but become oblivious to its elements, the said pixels. (Human eyeballs have limited...

    Robots and Will Worshipers

It means that He does not micro-manage us. When you are Omni-[everything] you don't need to do so to stay in control of the Big Picture. He can easily alter His actions in response to ours to get the end result that He wants. Our mortality and the consequences of sin are both self-limiting.

Man has limited choice. God blesses and extends that choice, if it is in sync with His will. "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you." Jesus, John15:7 NKJV It is a bit like dancing. The Holy Spirit leads.

@FluffyYellowDuck, what genres have you preferred to play (on your guitar)?

Agree. It means not withholding anything from the Holy Spirit that He asks for when you are off-line.

Should christians stop celebrating Valentine's day

You still want to trade your old "self" for a new "self." Jesus said, "For whoever desires to save [her] life will lose it, but whoever loses [her] life for My sake will find it." Matthew 16:25 NKJV

Should christians stop celebrating Valentine's day

Jewish holidays are not evil. They are historically and prophetically relevant. Paul spent a lot of time arguing against the Juda-izers, who argued that we must become ritualistic Jews, first, before we can be Christians --that is an error-- but some [most?] of their rituals are relevant to us...

Should christians stop celebrating Valentine's day

This is true, but sanctification does not happen all at once; He does not teach us all there is to know about God's Word all at once. Legalism attempts to, but fails miserably at it. The Holy Spirit draws us at a pace that we can manage; He postpones some lessons (with grace) until we are ready...

Should christians stop celebrating Valentine's day

If it doesn't go directly against the Bible, it just depends on how the Holy Spirit leads you. Being secular in origin, we have no Biblical reason to defend it, either.

Did mind–body dualism exist before original sin?

And that still only occurred on the Cross, not before. You are trying to shoehorn a doctrine that just isn't there. (I am beginning to suspect that you realize that. [I know, slow learner... ])

Did mind–body dualism exist before original sin?

So, you keep pressing. It amounts to no more than wishful thinking. He became [our] sin when He was on the Cross.* Prior to that, He had a body like ours but was completely without sin. *He would have been disqualified to do so if incarnation equaled sin.
