The one who is still to come

God is always the head of the Messiah.
  2. Matthias

The one who is still to come

Sitting on the throne and reigning with the Messiah doesn’t make those of us who will God himself. David sat on God’s throne in Jerusalem.

The one who is still to come

In the eyes and ears of many, yes. In fact, no. In Jewish monotheism there is no God besides the Father. I don’t know whatever gave you that idea. I don’t have a lot of conversation with unbelieving Jews but when I have, the mention of heaven hasn’t been a problem.

The one who is still to come

To hear some tell it, the Father seldom says anything anywhere in the Bible. To a Jewish monotheist, the Father speaks incessantly everywhere in the Bible.

The one who is still to come

He just was transparent. I found it to be commendable.

That’s also the finish, as far as I’m concerned. You might persuade some of the trinitarians. Some are more zealous than others. That’s between you and them. As I frequently find myself saying, let everyone be persuaded in their own mind. I’ll leave you to it, but this thread is about who is...

The one who is still to come

I’ve known that for three years. Now anyone here who didn’t (if there are any) and those who will come here (in the future) has heard it from your own mouth. That’s the way it should be. I respect that. Maybe they’ll agree with you. I leave that entirely in their hands.

The one who is still to come

Jesus is a Jewish monotheist. I’m a Jewish monotheist. Jewish monotheists do not believe the one God is divisible.
  9. Matthias

The one who is still to come

That’s an odd thing for a trinitarian to say.

The one who is still to come

Thanks. I’m not persuaded by what you said.

The one who is still to come

You and I are finished. The full trajectory is finished in the New Testament. The church gradually went beyond that in subsequent centuries, beginning in the 2nd century.

The one who is still to come

Trinitarians and I have been able to agree that it is the Father speaking in Revelation 1:8. Trinitarians have disagreed with trinitarians and me that it is the Father speaking in Revelation 1:8. It’s the trinitarians who are divided on the question asked in the OP. I can’t resolve that...

The one who is still to come

Only in a world gone mad would trinitarian scholarship offered by a Jewish monotheist in support of the position taken by a trinitarian on a particular passage of scripture cause such turmoil from trinitarians as witnessed in this thread. *** I’m a Jewish monotheist and I’m able to agree with...

The one who is still to come

This thread was started because a Catholic member asked me yesterday to explain how Revelation 1:8 - which we both agreed is the Father speaking - is compatible with Jewish monotheism. It stemmed from a comment I had made earlier to him that, “Every scripture you quoted when properly explained...

The one who is still to come

Who was dead and has come to life? Yahweh? Absolutely not. Jesus.
  16. Matthias

The one who is still to come

If you’re laboring under the impression that I’m trying to refute you then you’re laboring under a false impression. I don’t attempt to refute anyone. Everyone must be convinced in their own mind. The passages of scripture you quoted are compatible withJewish monotheism. I‘ll gently say to you...

The one who is still to come

I’ve already addressed all of this elsewhere. No. This is a “who is the speaker in Revelation 1:8?” thread. I believe Jesus is God, within the framework of Jewish monotheism. That should suffice but wild eyed pistol wavers are free to go after Jewish monotheism, if they want to. And just...

The one who is still to come

Agreement about the proper understanding of a verse of scripture between a ”Christian” member and an “Other Faith” member spins out of control when other “Christian” members jump in. News at 11. *** Who speaks in verse 8? I affirmed it is the Father and provided confirmation from the...

    QUOTE for the day

“Christianity is not the removal of suffering, but the addition of grace to endure suffering triumphantly.” - Thomas Watson
  20. Matthias

The one who is still to come

You don’t understand that the God of Genesis is the God of Jewish monotheism and Jesus is the likeness of one - > his own God. Jesus himself is a Jewish monotheist. Jewish monotheism isn’t trinitarian. You know that.
