Born again - Before, or After, the Call?

St. SteVen said: What is your definition of repentance? (process or one-time event?) Does spiritual rebirth come before or after repentance? But you agreed that repentance is a process. How long until spiritual rebirth occurs? God doesn't impose a spiritual rebirth? Say what...

Born again - Before, or After, the Call?

In most cases repentance is a natural outflow of a spiritual rebirth. Because of a spiritual rebirth, a person WANTS to turn away from sin. https://www.christianityboard.com/threads/thoughts-about-confession-and-repentance-not-the-same-thing.65651/ [

Born again - Before, or After, the Call?

    J. Preston Eby states that spiritual rebirth comes first. But I don't want to put God in a box. I can see it happening either way. @Lambano nailed it in post #122. Humans have a natural tendency to want to clean up their lives before they come to God. But is that true repentance, or a fleshly...

Is the Gift of Salvation nullified by the consequences of refusal?

No salvation in the here and now? No assurance of salvation? NOSAS? [

Born again - Before, or After, the Call?

Is the Gift of Salvation nullified by the consequences of refusal?

State your case on the "Yes and No." Thanks. [

The Limited Aspect of Christian Love - "I love you, but I don't like you."

As Christians, we are commanded to "love everyone". But that doesn't mean we need to LIKE them, right? RIGHT? - Have you found yourself in the position of having to "love" someone that is unlovable? - What does it mean to "like" someone? - Is "like" greater than, or even EQUAL to, love? [

Cessationism versus Continuationism - The fallacy of "Signs Gifts".

Cessationism claims that the miracle gifts of the Holy Spirit were signs to authenticate the early church. And consequently the miracle gifts disappeared when the Apostles did. Continuationism says that all the gifts were for the church and that all the gifts of the Holy Spirit are still valid...

Born again - Before, or After, the Call?

"Man chooses that which is according to his nature, and therefore before he will ever choose or prefer that which is divine and spiritual, a new nature must be imparted to him; in other words, he must be born again. Let me appeal to the actual experience of the reader of these lines. Was there...

Is the Gift of Salvation nullified by the consequences of refusal?

That is key to the point I'm trying to make. Thanks. Oftentimes it is the church or "Christianity" with its political slant that is being rejected. Christians have such a bad reputation in society that no one wants to be associated with them. This is markedly different than rejecting God...

"Is excessive interpretation the root cause of differences in understanding and doctrinal divisions in the Bible?"

St. SteVen said: How can they be tried and true when they deny the continuing ministry of the Holy Spirit? Good point, sobering as it is. It seems as though the believers demanded to know why we weren't seeing these miracles of the Spirit today. And instead of the leaders...

Yup. The forum is a failed economy. Everyone is selling, but no one is buying. [

"Is excessive interpretation the root cause of differences in understanding and doctrinal divisions in the Bible?"

Agree. That further supports my statement. Possession of a Bible is of little value to the illiterate. [

"Is excessive interpretation the root cause of differences in understanding and doctrinal divisions in the Bible?"

My point is that the Bible wasn't available to the masses until the 1600s. As I understand it, the Wycliffe, Tyndale, Matthew (?) and Geneva weren't in possession of the general public. [
