Is the Gift of Salvation nullified by the consequences of refusal?

Right. We aren't saved by the Bible. We aren't saved by the church. We aren't saved by baptism. We aren't saved by doctrine. Only God can save. God saves us through a renewed relationship with Him. Salvation is a relationship with God. [

Is your faith your own? - Is "the Faith" prescribed by a human institution?

Perhaps you should rethink this? - Nominal Christians = worshiping, calling Jesus Lord, and working miracles ??? - The declaration, "I never knew you" = A lack of obedience ??? [

Does Christian Universalism deny the justice of God?

St. SteVen said: That's a great question. Thanks. It would mean that those in hell were predestined by God to end up there. (for the crime of not being among the predestined Elect) So, does God indeed predestine humans for destruction? (retaining only those He elected and...

Does Christian Universalism deny the justice of God?

That assumes that everyone had an opportunity. (nope) [

What becomes of our faith if the Genesis account is NOT literal?

I finally figured out that the questions are more important than the answers. [

Where did the Bible come from? - Shot out of a canon

My point is that these are named prophets in the NT. Prophecy should be a body part of every church. Even today. [

What becomes of our faith if the Genesis account is NOT literal?

I think Jesus can stand on His own without a literal Genesis account. Some things can stand as symbolic. [

What becomes of our faith if the Genesis account is NOT literal?

Believers who question the literal Genesis account agree that humankind is sinful... If not due to Adam's fall, someone allowed sin to enter. Adam could be a representative for the situation we find ourselves in. [

What becomes of our faith if the Genesis account is NOT literal?

The atheists do a better job of explaining than I would. But in general, there are questions about whether Moses existed. Questions about who actually wrote the Books of Moses. Questions about the Exodus. Questions about Canaan and the conquest. Questions about the origins of humankind...

What becomes of our faith if the Genesis account is NOT literal?

The church gave us the literal view of Genesis. Yet, science, archeology and history bring serious questions. It doesn't add up. [

What becomes of our faith if the Genesis account is NOT literal?

Agree. Seems that way. Yet the literal Genesis view requires putting on blinders to the truth. I can't live with that either. Somehow, the end product works. The best assurance. [

What becomes of our faith if the Genesis account is NOT literal?

What becomes of our faith if the Genesis account is NOT literal? The gospel and the New Testament narrative unravel when these things aren't literal. - The geologies are meaningless. (or in serious error) - Who wrote the Books of Moses? (and when) - If Adam wasn't a literal human then he...

Is your faith your own? - Is "the Faith" prescribed by a human institution?

Like human relationships, the knowing comes from a continued relationship. [

Plundering my religious upbringing - The desert island question

While composing a response post on another thread (obviously) it occurred to me the benefits I received from my religious upbringing. I spend plenty of time talking against it now, but only occasionally speak to the benefits. Others may have taken a similar path. Started in one place and...

Is your faith your own? - Is "the Faith" prescribed by a human institution?

I would say that means knowing Him in a RELATIONSHIP, not knowing ABOUT Him intellectually. (theologically) Again, the faith of a little child is enough. [

Is your faith your own? - Is "the Faith" prescribed by a human institution?
