    Songs You Got Wrong..........

    When I was in kindergarten we learned the " Alphabet Song". I never could figure out what "elemeno" meant, as in "A B C D E F G, H I J K elemeno P".

    What is the Consequence?

Parable of the sower pretty much sums it up but assuming you refer to the good soil in which the Word flourishes, the consequence is the new man in Christ.

    The Grace of God

I find focusing on salvation, and by extension condemnation, serves only to foment fear. For better or worse it is a control mechanism. I much prefer to focus on following the path laid out by Jesus, in other words love.

I do enjoy that parable as well. I also enjoy our conversation. You have given me much to think about.

The Popular False Justification and False Sanctification View Today.

Choosing not to believe, assuming one can choose in this matter, is itself a wicked behavior. God sees into our hearts so even our thoughts are actions as far as he's concerned. It's for this reason that everyone sins, since many good Christians can control their actions, but who can control...

The Popular False Justification and False Sanctification View Today.

On the flip side, if one can gain salvation then was it ever lost to begin with? After all, why should we be able to force God's hand for good or bad? Logically either universal salvation reigns or arbitrary election does, and God being good, arbitrary election is out the window. My head hurts.

The Popular False Justification and False Sanctification View Today.

Understood, but in the parables Jesus speaks of the Word falling on Rocky soil. It first takes root then dies. This seems the to imply salvation lost. That's confusing. If salvation can be lost then it was never had in the first place since to lose one's salvation suggests one can coerce God's...

The Popular False Justification and False Sanctification View Today.

I keep coming back to Romans 4. What, then, are we to say about Abraham, our human ancestor? For if Abraham was justified by actions, he would have had something to boast about—though not before God. For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as...

I'm not familiar with Calvin's specific teachings. Perhaps I should look them up? Thanks for the tip.

The Popular False Justification and False Sanctification View Today.

Who has power over your salvation, you or God? If God wants to condemn you, what power can stop him? If God wants to save you, what power can stop him? It seems we desperately want power over our own life and death, but we don't have any. Can you choose to not be born? Can you choose to not...

I Didn't Choose to Be an Agnostic

I imagine many people who balk at the idea of God are quite afraid of Satan for the reason that they don't so much not believe in God as find it difficult to accept his terms for living. A good way to test this is to ask someone how they feel about pledging their immortal soul to the enemy. If...

Why don’t you believe Satan has been defeated?

Amen, brother. I have met Jesus. He radiated golden white light and when he gazed upon me my mind stopped. In that instant I felt Jesus peer into me. He saw me in my entirety. He knew my every thought, my every feeling - not just in that moment but in every moment of my existence. What's more...

Why don’t you believe Satan has been defeated?

Not at all! Take, for example, the idea of Santa Clause. Is there a literal fat-man living at the North Pole, manufacturing and delivering presents to children around the world? No! Yet every Christmas morning hundreds of millions of children around the world awaken to discover the presents...

Why don’t you believe Satan has been defeated?

Words don't need to be literal to be true. Sometimes the most important take-away is how a person feels. Revelation encourages Christians to be fearless, knowing that God's victory is assured and Satan is predestined to defeat. I believe this to be true, I just don't worry about the details of...

Why don’t you believe Satan has been defeated?

Thank you. I actually read Revelation in its entirely just last weekend. It's still quite fresh in my mind. :-) Personally, I think that Revelation is the perfect book-end to Genesis 1 and 2. I also believe that both book-ends are poetry and not to be taken literally. That said, most Christians...

Why don’t you believe Satan has been defeated?

Have we defined the meaning of "defeated" in this thread? Perhaps that's a stumbling point. I define "defeated" within this context as "unable to affect humanity anymore". This could mean dead or permanently thrown into the lake of fire. Perhaps others define it more along the lines as...

Why don’t you believe Satan has been defeated?

When did the world have a thousand years of peace with Jesus leading the nations? Was it between AD 70 and 1070? Doesn't seem so to me. When was Satan thrown into the lake of fire? When were 1/3rd of the population of the planet killed? When were mountains thrown into the seas? If The Book of...
