those who think that God shouldn't be feared, are fools

2 Corinthians 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

    The Inquisitions

From: Henry Charles Lea, The History of the Inquisition of the Middle Ages. Of all the curses which the Inquisition brought in its train this, perhaps, was the greatest---that, until the closing years of the eighteenth century, throughout the greater part of Europe, the inquisitorial process...

those who think that God shouldn't be feared, are fools

From Psalm 119: 119. You put away all the wicked of the earth like dross; Therefore I love Your testimonies. 120. My flesh trembles for fear of You, And I am afraid of Your judgments. The Psalmist loves God and fears Him.

    Is communion symbolic or literal?

Consider me dull, but I still think I am receiving Christ spiritually in the communion bread and wine, by faith. That's what I mean by spiritual food and drink. Proclaiming the Lord's death til He comes, Amen.

    Is communion symbolic or literal?

You said: "The bread, the wine, is not spiritual." Wouldn't these verses, below, show that the bread and wine can be called spiritual food and drink? From 1Corinthians 10: 1. Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the...

    Is communion symbolic or literal?

If "literal" means that the physical object (bread/wine) is God, then it is not "literal". It is symbolic (Spiritual food and drink). This is one of the teachings the Catholic Church/Orthodox Church use to continue to divide the Christian Church.

    The Elect

Just to add, about blinding: 2Corinthians 4: 3. But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4. whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

Why I could personally never chose to be Catholic

Your 'King James Version Only proud and preaching Church' statement diminishes your Christian witness and does not edify the body of Christ.

    The Inquisitions

epostle1 is Kepha31, I think. You said: "The original post started out with dishonesty. A denial of our Christian history." The O.P. states: Using these two sources, and any others submitted, I hope to get the facts of this "tormented phase in the history of the Church" (per Pope John Paul...

    Do you do this?

"My question is: Do you do this in remembrance of Him? How often? If you don’t then I am curious why you don’t? Do you have any scriptural justification for NOT doing it? Will one not go to heaven if they don’t do it?" Answer: Yes. Once a week.

Scripture is not the last word.

If some commenter says 'not every word(of Scripture) was inspired by God', reject that person's god. If they say Scripture is not the last word, reject that person's god.

Scripture is not the last word.

"Scripture is not the last word." If Scripture is the Word of God, then it is the first Word and the last Word.

Once Saved....always Saved - Results of Questionnaire.

I actually agree with you. I was responding to ByGrace, and wondering how she could support OSAS (and why it would matter to her) when I was aware that she also believes all people will be saved.

    The Inquisitions

One of the sources for this thread is: Henry Charles Lea, The History of the Inquisition of the Middle Ages. Is it also 'obsolete and misleading' ?

    The Inquisitions

Please go after those Anglicans, Lutherans, Puritans and whatever Church burned heretics. I think the Catholic Church started it, though. Serious Bob

But, don't you also think every person will be saved?

Modern Manifestation of Heresy within Christianity

Marcionism/Dualism. From Wikipedia: "Marcionists believed that the wrathful Hebrew God was a separate and lower entity than the all-forgiving God of the New Testament. This belief was in some ways similar to Gnostic Christian theology; notably, both are dualistic, that is, they posit opposing...

    The Apostles Creed

Not necessary, but we are free to repeat it.

Can God rescue a soul from hell?

I'll use this verse to suggest that King David believed in Christ: from 1Corinthians 10. "Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 2. all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3. all ate the same...

    Charles Finney

He said: "My words seemed to fasten like barbed arrows in the souls of men. They cut like a sword. They broke the heart like a hammer." Sure sounds like he equates his words with the Word of God.
