Leaders That Don't Support Good Works or Overcoming Sin

Many in the church do accept sin in the name of "tolerance" and political correctness etc I'm afraid. But I was thinking mainly about a bit earlier in the conversation with the apparent controversy Johann was having with Amigo.

Leaders That Don't Support Good Works or Overcoming Sin

Has to be talking (in a representative way) about the struggle of saved persons, because Paul refers to delighting in the Law after the inner man....and also unsaved persons can't learn to walk in the spirit to be delivered from "this body of death." But we resemble people under the Law in...

Leaders That Don't Support Good Works or Overcoming Sin

Can you please help me to understand.....is this really a conversation about mercy and grace versus condemnation? Is that what this is about? I wanted to try to get at the crux of the controversy here, because it wasn't clear to me what is was. I was just seeing vague insinuations and...

Leaders That Don't Support Good Works or Overcoming Sin

Paul knew of nothing against himself...his conscience was clear....he was not sinning any outward sins. However in spite of not considering that he had "arrived" he was still an apostle who was a spiritual leader in the churches and wrote all the letters that he wrote. And there was some...

Thoughts on Christian Mysticism and Contemplative Practice

It was God's idea (will) to divide up the human race into various peoples. And as long as we aren't trying to bring about a contrived false unity within the church either. "How can two walk together except they be agreed?" It's for God to bring any needed judgment as He sees fit, not the...

Thoughts on Christian Mysticism and Contemplative Practice

Just coming back to let you in on a newsflash....God likes there to be various tribes.

What becomes of our faith if the Genesis account is NOT literal?

There is both the allegorical as well as factual in scripture (God is not a man that He should lie.) This is why we need the Holy Spirit to help us rightly divide between the two.

Thoughts on Christian Mysticism and Contemplative Practice

The truth always confronts our wrong, which doesn't feel good, so we are apt to call it names instead of allowing it to correct our wrong.

Thoughts on Christian Mysticism and Contemplative Practice

Prayer and prayerfulness, entering His presence...and meditating on the word.....anything more than this is from the evil one. The devil sure is in the details. And we do need to test the spirits by the word of God so we need to have the scriptures tucked away in our heart. We are to bring...

Thoughts on Christian Mysticism and Contemplative Practice

Departing from the simplicity of Christ CAUSES divisions/tribalism.

Thoughts on Christian Mysticism and Contemplative Practice

We need "ears to hear" what the spirit is saying with that. Trying to serve or worship God in ways that proceed from the carnal mind of man (flesh nature) as opposed to the spirit of God......are from the evil one. Jesus is telling us to worship/serve Him in simplicity without all the add-ons...

No guns a-blazing. I raised a point, that's all, and hope you will consider it.

Leaders That Don't Support Good Works or Overcoming Sin

Of course I don't mind....feel free to take a break and get refreshed. Think we all need to do that anyhow from time to time, I know I do.

Leaders That Don't Support Good Works or Overcoming Sin

Agree with this in principle brother. It's become a "career" for many. Love of money and seeking a life for oneself in this world. Cake and eat it too. I understand the temptation. Cares of life, especially for those with spouses and children to bring up, as Paul said would be the case.

Nobody has come to me behind the scenes, so rest your mind on that score.

Leaders That Don't Support Good Works or Overcoming Sin

People tend to shy away from reading anything too lengthy on forums. (And for me I have problems concentrating these days.) But I believe we need to recognize and allow that different people have different areas of graces and gifts, brother.

Leaders That Don't Support Good Works or Overcoming Sin

That is some strong rhetoric there brother. I'm not sure exactly where the point of contention is with you two. Does it have to do with "balance"? Was my post on the right track, if anyone read it (#435, p. 22)....I find it hard to convey the idea of balance with the right balance...

Leaders That Don't Support Good Works or Overcoming Sin

Agree that justification is by faith and that righteousness is imputed to us. Tried so hard to get that across to that one who talks about a "higher walk". But also after coming to faith, which was a free gift apart from works, I believe there needs to be a balance because in James it says...

Leaders That Don't Support Good Works or Overcoming Sin

I don't know what all this is pertaining to, but while a forum is not "a" church, wherever you have believers it is "the church" in a more general sense. Each one may bring either what they receive from the Lord to bring and/or just to discuss and converse about things of God. In this way I...
