Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

Yes, I realize some Amill think salvation ends when the thousand years ends and that would be consistent with the idea of Satan being bound from allowing the gospel to spread or do its work, but as you point out that idea creates other problems that are left unsolved.

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

Three days before Passover in 70AD the Roman army started besieging Jerusalem. This could’ve been the hour of temptation that they were kept from, the temptation to travel to Jerusalem as many Jews did in 70AD before becoming trapped in the city. Galatians 2:9 And when James, Cephas, and...

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

There is also the problem of how Satan is bound if you claim Satans millennium ends prior to the human millennium. Typically it is said that the strong man had to be bound before his house is spoiled but with human millennium extending past the time Satan is loosed that would have to mean...

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

I don’t want to debate on this thread why the destruction of Jerusalem could be seen as something coming upon the whole world so I’ll just give you this snippet to chew on. Jews did not always mean “the physical universe” when they spoke of heaven and earth together. In Jewish literature, the...

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

Luke 17:30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. 31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. When did people flee while Jesus...

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

I see Psalms 90:4 as such, a thousand years in Gods sight is as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night in our human sight. Meaning God sees it as a thousand years while we see it as one day (yesterday).

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

If Revelation was written after 70AD, what was the hour of temptation that came upon the whole world that the church at Philadelphia was kept from? What event that happened after 70AD and within their lifetime qualified as coming upon the whole world?

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

They are beheaded when Messiah was cut off. Just as the New Testament church is the body of Christ, the old covenant was dead once Christ died and those under it are seen as beheaded. Those raised in Matthew 27:52-53 were under the old covenant, they were believers who are beheaded, the rest...

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

No, that is why I think it’s referring to the rest of the dead figuratively. Matthew 8:22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. Here is an example of dead being used figuratively.

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

Well I do think the thousand years represents an unknown period of time (at least unknown until it occurred). That period of time was as yesterday or as a watch in the night, with both of these being much less than a thousand years.

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

RWB, you are using circular logic to say the rest of the dead remain dead until after the little season is finished, that is, A is true because B is true and B is true because A is true. I don’t know if you think Satan has already been loosed or not but let’s suppose we are in the little...

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

I see the beheaded people in Revelation 20:4 as those under the old covenant and when Jesus the Messiah died He was cut off. They are beheaded in the same sense as the New Testament church is the body and Jesus is the head, although in this case it’s the Old Testament body that is beheaded. In...

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

Here’s what I’ve been looking at, I think you agree here, in a two millennium scenario Satan being loosed can’t affect the reigning and priesthood of the believers. I’m not sure how you view Satan being bound but I think most Amill generally associate his binding with Satan no longer able to...

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

Marty, I’ve been thinking about your two millenniums and actually this argument that the reigning carries on looks to me like it would disprove the two millenniums.

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

The difference is that it means the initial group of dead people is meant figuratively not literally.

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

So why does Revelation 20:5 say the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished? When it should’ve said the rest of the dead lived not again until the little season was finished.

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

Yes, I agree with this, although I’m sure we place this happening at different times. I need to think about the Daniel 12:7 rest of the beasts being prolonged for Satans little season. It definitely does seem like it could be a possibility. Satan is bound from deceiving, and once he is released...

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

Hymenaeus and Philetus couldn’t have argued that the resurrection had passed unless there were eye witnesses of the Matthew 27:52-53 resurrection. Think about, if someone claimed the resurrection had occurred yesterday, all anyone would have to do is look inside the urn of a loved one to know...

Paul claimed 3 times that Rev 20:4 was a current reality.

There is no problem of silence. 2 Timothy 2:17And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 18Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. Before I go on about this verse let me state clearly...
