  1. St. SteVen

True or not? God is Jesus, but Jesus isn’t God.

That depends on how we define the word "God". If the word "God" is in reference to God the Father, then; No, Jesus isn't the person of God the Father. If the word "God" is in reference to the godhead, then; Yes, Jesus is a person of the godhead. Therefore, Jesus is God. (as a person of the...

Absolute truth - Do we know what it is?

What makes a doctrine false? Please quote what you would like to respond to. Thanks. 1. You've never heard it before. (knee-jerk defensive response) 2. You have heard of it before, but assume it's false. (haven't looked into it) 3. Doesn't align with your church's doctrine (your church...

Absolute truth - Do we know what it is?

St. SteVen said: So tragic what Christianity has busied itself with. Arguing about man-made doctrines... When we should have been seeking an intimate relationship with God. What is biblical truth? There is no consensus. Everyone has their own opinions about it. You can claim...

Absolute truth - Do we know what it is?

So tragic what Christianity has busied itself with. Arguing about man-made doctrines... When we should have been seeking an intimate relationship with God. [

Claimed prophetic fulfillment seems highly questionable. - Were they acquired rather than intended?

In some cases it seems obvious that the OT writer was inspired to deliver a message directed at something specific in the future. (intended) In other cases it appears that an OT text was recalled by memory and adopted (appropriated) for use in the NT as if it were an intended message in the OT...

Claimed prophetic fulfillment seems highly questionable. - Were they acquired rather than intended?

That assumes that no one messed with Jesus' words in the Bible. How certain are we? If we assume that NO ONE messed with Jesus' words, we are still left with a mess to figure out. I don't see how that helps. [

Claimed prophetic fulfillment seems highly questionable. - Were they acquired rather than intended?

That's a good point. But the NT writers behave as if they are making solid connections. It begs lots of questions. [

Absolute truth - Do we know what it is?

Agree. No, I never have. What would they say? [

Claimed prophetic fulfillment seems highly questionable. - Were they acquired rather than intended?

What about this one? Luke 7:24-27 NIV After John’s messengers left, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind? 25 If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear expensive...

Sorry. Usually @BarneyFife chimes in to refuse an answer. - LOL I just use it add add some extra space at the bottom. So as not to crowd my signature line. [

Claimed prophetic fulfillment seems highly questionable. - Were they acquired rather than intended?

That's pretty weak. The spoils of war are typically divided among the warriors. I think there is a better reference than that. Like this one. Psalm 22:18 NIV They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment. Did you know that Jesus quoted Psalm 22 when he was on the cross...

Claimed prophetic fulfillment seems highly questionable. - Were they acquired rather than intended?

St. SteVen said: My guess is King David, but it could have many applications. But is that how messianic prophecy should work? Quoting (misappropriating) something that COULD be about Jesus? [
  13. St. SteVen

Claimed prophetic fulfillment seems highly questionable. - Were they acquired rather than intended?

It seems clear that the "prophecy" was adopted. Acts 13:33 God has fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he has raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou are my Son, this day have I begotten thee. [

Can a person be a Christ-follower without falling in lock-step with the institutional church?

A couple more collaborations for those interested. I sang the lead vocals on this one and did the slide guitar parts. Non-collaboration work here: [

Here are a couple more with a different collaborator. Two very different styles. From Spaghetti Western to Heavy Metal. [

Can a person be a Christ-follower without falling in lock-step with the institutional church?

Here's another good collaboration with MopTop. I wrote the lyrics and played the guitar solo. [

Claimed prophetic fulfillment seems highly questionable. - Were they acquired rather than intended?

Two more examples. Mark 14:27 NET Then[a] Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’[b] --- COMPARE --- Zechariah 13:7 NET “Awake, sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is my associate,” says the...

Claimed prophetic fulfillment seems highly questionable. - Were they acquired rather than intended?

The issue isn't plagiarism. See the example below. The NT verse claims that Jesus parents taking him to Egypt is a fulfillment of prophecy. But the claimed prophecy doesn't fit. It's talking about Israel. ??? So the "prophecy" seems to have been adopted. Not the original intent. Matthew 2:15...
