"I never knew you: depart from me, you that work inquity."

From the context, John is using the pronoun "you" twice in the context in a generic sense in announcing the type of baptism he baptized with (water) and the type of baptisms Christ would baptize with (Holy Spirit & fire). Therefore neither pronoun "you" specifically refers to those Pharisees he...

"I never knew you: depart from me, you that work inquity."

No, I'm not familiar where the physical birth is called baptism. I have seen some erroneously try and make "water" of Jn 3:5 mean the physical birth but that idea does not fit nor make sense in that context.

"I never knew you: depart from me, you that work inquity."

Not me but Col 2:12 says it. I am not familiar where the physical birth is ever called a baptism in the Bible. Ephesians 4:5 just "one baptism" in effect today just as there on one Lord and one faith.

"I never knew you: depart from me, you that work inquity."

Being water baptized is an humble act of submission to the will of God and the obedient are the ones God saves (Hebrews 5:9) By the time Paul penned his Ephesian epistle there was "one baptism" now in effect (Ephesians 4:5). That one baptism being the human administered water baptism of...

    Grace

On another forum I found what someone had posted about what the Greek word charis means: The piece is from a book called "Moral Transformation: The Original Christian Paradigm of Salvation" by AJ Wallace. quote: Grace', a mistranslated word and misunderstood concept The word charis, often...

The thief on the cross !?

Matthew 9:6 "But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house." When Christ was 'on earth' He had been given the power to forgive sins of those whom He thought was deserving as...

"I never knew you: depart from me, you that work inquity."

How could salvation be by 'grace only' if one did not have to keep Christ's laws or if there were no law at all? If there were no law, then there would be no sin and if there was no sin there would be no need for grace.

"I never knew you: depart from me, you that work inquity."

I think the man made idea of faith only-ism has confused people about "law" and "grace" as if the two are oil and water and do not mix. When in reality, they go together hand in hand.

"I never knew you: depart from me, you that work inquity."

Your position is one can live in sin (break God's law) and still be saved?

"I never knew you: depart from me, you that work inquity."

God has told man to obey by believing repenting confessing and submitting to water baptism. These are not things God obeys for men... God does not have to obey, HE is not lost. Yet men are lost and men are accountable to doing what God says. Therefore if I do not believe, then I will be held...

"I never knew you: depart from me, you that work inquity."

Christ is teaching His disciples, Matthew 5:1-2 Before. Neither questioned asked changes the stipulation Christ put on one in entering into the kingdom, that being doing the will of the Father. Not doing the will of the Father is disobedience, unrighteousness and we know the disobedient...

"I never knew you: depart from me, you that work inquity."

To be saved one must obey God by believing, repentance, confession, being baptized. Then after becoming a Christian, one must do good works and live faithfully unto death [Rom 10:9-10; Acts 2:38; Eph 2:10; Rev 2:10] Again, the Jews were lost for not having obeyed the righteous commands of God...

"I never knew you: depart from me, you that work inquity."

Matthew 7:21 "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." The verse clearly shows there is a work one is to 'doeth' in order to enter into the kingdom and that work is doing the will of God...

    Baptism question that seems unbiblical

If one was not scripturally baptized (Acts 19:4-5) he would need to be baptized scripturally and once baptized scripturally he need not be re-baptized for any reason. In Acts 8:13 Simon believed and was baptized (per Christ's words of Mk 16:16) but later sinned. He was not told to be...

Does the Pharisee or the Publican Describe You Most?

The Pharisee or Publican would not be NT gospel examples of salvation for us today for neither lived under the NT gospel that requires obedience in belief, repentance, confession and water baptism (Rom 10:9,10; Luke 13:3; Acts 2:38) Neither are an example of how an alien sinner* would be saved...

Peter's sermon, Acts 2:31-38 on Pentecost:

Matthew 28:19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" Mark 16:15,16 "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but...

A Study on the Book of James

Paul in Rom 4 is saying works without faith cannot saved. James in James 2 is saying faith without works cannot save. Therefore it takes BOTH faith and obedient works in doing God's will to be saved. James and Paul agree on this: James 2-------works>>>>>>>>>>>>>>justify (James) Rom...

    Assurance of salvation:

The passage shows salvation is CONDITIONAL and not unconditional as OSAS claims. One must conditionally hear and believe to have everlasting life. Both verbs in the present tense show the hearing and believing must conditionally be ongoing, sustained for if one quits hearing and believing he...

Salvation Not Guaranteed By Faith + Works

If they were disciples and doing the Father's will to enter the kingdom of heaven, Jesus would not have said they were workers of iniquity and He never knew them. So they were not doing what God authorized, they were not doing God's will but following their own will. Not doing the will of the...
