    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

Good questions that could be asked. But, I must say, that I DO wish that Jesus had put His hand to parchment and written down some LAWS/RULES. It might have been able to deflect all this writing of what we think Jesus meant - or the writers of the NT for that matter. I know why He didn't...

The above, referring to traditions, is alluding to the Traditions of the CC --- which are totally different. I would like to point out that the NT also teaches that we are to follow traditions... 2 Thessalonians 2:15 15So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught...

It's so exciting posting to you BF.

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

John was very concerned about the gnostics. Agreed. But I can't agree as to what you post re 1 John 1:9 Verse 8 states that if we say we have no sin we are deceiving ourselves. And THE TRUTH is not in us. This means that if we want to be honest, know the truth, we'd have to say that we do have...

If you like an authoritative denomination, you'd have to join the CC. Problem is that some of their doctrine won't be found in the bible. OTOH, you'll have ONE understanding of the NT and I find no problem with that. (I'm not Catholic but know their theology).

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

I'd say that you've created a conflict in the NT and it's up to you to resolve it. I see no conflict in the NT. Could you tell me the difference between 1 John 1 and 2 and 1 John 3:9? If you can, you've resolved the problem... if you cannot, you have a problem. And the verse is being...

Friendly Bible Study - participants must agree to Nicene Creed.

I have to agree. Some churches are being influenced more by the world..... than the world is being influenced by them. The Episcopal church in England hardly seems Christian anymore.

I teach the Lord's Prayer to 5th graders. Will listen happily later on.

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

Agreed. I do understand better having the sin nature instead of speaking about the flesh. My understanding is that our sin nature (the effect of Adam's sin which scars us) is what makes the flesh sin. But however one wants to understand this, I do agree with your statements above. It's not...

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

Yes, I agree. We walk in the spirit, abiding in Christ, with the Holy Spirit and pay attention to our spirit. Our spirit will have an affect on our soul (mind, will, emotions) and sinning will be held to a minimum as we mature more and more. Walking in the flesh means that we are following our...

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

So are you saying that Jesus did not come to take away our sin? Are you saying we are not forgiven? Are you saying that not all of the NT is for all of us? Except for John 17 when Jesus speaks DIRECTLY to the Apostles, I'd say that the entirety of the NT is for all believers. Maybe you'd have to...

Why not go ahead and highlight the context of the statement you made? HOW am I misrepresenting you when I plainly posted your exact words?

    Justified by Works

What does faith and works mean? What does of their own wisdom and efforts mean? I don't know any denomination that claims to be able to serve God with only man's strength. Isn't this the entire controversy with Pelagius? Didn't the church side with Augustine? I'm reading such contradicting and...

I agree on the above and these certainly are problems within the church. But I also believe that without an institution Christianity would not have been able to survive. Having a group of persons praying and worshipping all together would hold for a while, but would have died eventually without...

Having an open mind does mean that I have to accept what someone tells me. You may have had a wonderful experience, and neither I nor anyone else on this thread that has not had that particular experience will have any idea of what you're speaking of. I have to go by what the NT teaches and...

You said this in post no. 150: Believing is something you do, an act performed by the person, so if that act you do is the basis for God justifying you, or saving you, its works salvation, condemned by the scripture. Maybe you didn't read my post well.... BELIEVING IS NOT A WORK. You stated...

    Oddly OSAS

Yes...I still agree. Although I don't quite get the nuance of SAVED and CONVERTED. I believe that we become saved.... and the conversion could be immediate or it could take some time. But the person, if being honest about following Jesus, will still be saved even if the conversion takes some...

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

No marks. I do not believe it's possible to be free from sin. I believe we sin every day, even when we're not aware of it although that will not count as sin as far as guilt is concerned. I don't know about the experience the other member, H, has had and I really don't care to know. Every...
